Buddy Nielsen from Senses Fail

This is it. I never thought that this podcast would be a vehicle for such open and inspiring discussion, but here we are. Buddy Nielsen who is the vocalist for Senses Fail who for many years, was arguably one of the largest bands in the mid-aughts comes on the show to discuss his struggles. He opens up about his addictions, sexuality and the self-destructive behavior he inflicted on himself for years. He's never discussed these issues in a public form and it's incredible to hear the stories as well as the process of moving past that season in his life. I am extremely proud to bring this compelling conversation to you and thanks again to Buddy for wanting to share his story.  Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Calvin Philley from Xerxes - Episode 131

This week I was able to speak to the lead vocalist in the punk outfit, Xerxes. Calvin was more than willing to open up about his creative writing past, depression and anxiety that he suffers from. It's unlike most previous episodes as we dive in deep right away and I even get a little Dad like towards the end of the show. Dive in and enjoy! James Shotwell from Under The Gun Review & Haulix - Episode 130

Many apologies for the delay, the internet wasn't our friend this week. Fortunately, I have a very fun conversation with James Shotwell who runs the site, Under The Gun Review , as well as working for a great music industry service called Haulix. We get in depth with discussions on the Christian music scene, is multi-tasking really a good thing and how playing terrible music is actually good for you. James was a great sport and up for discussing anything. Walter Delgado from Rotting Out

In this very revealing episode we speak to Walter Delgado, the vocalist from the hardcore band Rotting Out. He had an insane upbringing and his life could have gone a completely different direction if it weren't for one specific show. We also discuss immigrating from Mexico, the horrific cycle of abuse and defying stereotypes. This is an absolutely crucial episode.  Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Sam Carter from Architects

Late one evening the vocalist for Sam Carter, and I hopped on Skype and had a spirited discussion hitting many topics that include getting in trouble with the press, what it's like to almost break a band up and not having a "backup plan". Sam is one of my good friends and I felt like we were really able to get somewhere with this discussion. I hope you enjoy! Please Donate to the Show! Andrew Koji Shiraki from Koji

The guest has been a long time coming but we finally have the incredible Koji a solo artist from Pennsylvania, on the show this week. He's an incredibly thoughtful guy that gave me a lot of time for us to discuss being an outsider, self-examination and continually keeping active. Not only does he create compelling music, but he is very passionate about creating communities around activism and ideas outside of music. He's a very valuable member of our independent music community and I hope you enjoy this conversation. Please donate to the show!
