1588 Am I Messing Up My Kids?
Am I messing up my kids? I don't know that I want to know that answer. However, what I do know is that they are stretching me. Who cares about what I'm doing to them. What are the doing to me? We seem to focus on the children more than ourselves. Now you know that our children are very important. However, why do we always question what we are doing to them? Instead of being concerned as to whether or not they are going to need counseling, or therapy to undo what we did, let's reverse the question. Are my kids messing me up? And the answer is NO!!! They are STRETCHING you!! Messing up and stretching are two totally different areas. You are going to make mistakes as a parent. You are going to make poor decisions. But overall, you are doing the best you know how. But what is really awesome to see is how your children stretch you. Because what's better than real life? NOTHING!! So let the stretching begin! The K.I.S.S. ~ Become elastic in your perspective! We can become so centered on what we know. Strengthening our strengths (what we're good at) is super duper easy. But learning and growing is a magnificent challenge! 1586 Rules are Meant to be Broken
Rules are meant to be broken. Or are they? When it comes to health and wellness, there are so many rules to follow. Let's break the rules! Doesn't it feel good to be a rebel for once. Maybe you grew up always doing what was expected and making sure you did what you were told. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? First off, why stay chained to false information and studies that benefit only the bottom line for big companies. You want to live a healthy lifestyle? It starts with arming yourself with the truth for the well-being of you! The K.I.S.S. ~ Break the rules! Here are seven rules you are being encouraged to break! You might already be breaking some. But what would happen if you broke them all! Time to rebel up! Count your calories! Eat less, exercise more has been pounded in our brains that this is the only way to lose weight. Calories are your fuel! Fuel your body with calories that rev your metabolism. Eat low to no fat! Low fat was a fad many years ago. And still to this date, is encouraged. Fat doesn't make you fat. Enjoy healthy fats (coconut oil, avocado, butter, and dark chocolate) to power your body and keep you satiated. Drink your vegetables! Who wants to drink your meals? Yes, you can definitely have your kale smoothies, but you can enjoy them along with other real foods that support your metabolism and brain, and shrinks your waistline too. Skip a meal; or two or three! Who needs to eat 3 to 5 meals a day? You might need to, depending on your activity level. Restricting your body puts your body into starvation mode, which means your metabolism slows down; and so does losing weight. Don't damage your metabolism. With every meal/snack, eat your protein with a healthy fat and carb that meets your health goals. No more yo-yo dieting. Cardio full speed ahead! Run your way to a healthy lifestyle! NO!! Beating up your body can increase potential injuries and cause joint damage. You have ONE body! So you want to take care of it. A H.I.I.T. training regimen and tabata workout can boost your metabolism and extend the benefits of your workout 24-72 hours beyond your workout; the afterburn. Don't beat yourself up. Build up instead of tearing down! Workout regardless of how tired you are! No matter your schedule, don't miss a workout! Seriously?!? You probably have given up sleep for a workout. Not anymore! Sleep benefits your body more. And when you are exhausted, working out increases your chances of injuries. Don't risk your health even more. Get your Zzzzz's!! It does the body better! Follow the plan with no exceptions! You committed to a plan, spent money on a program. You can't miss a day or make a change. A healthy lifestyle is not about perfection; it's harmony! Give yourself permission to make changes based on your schedule and your season. Forcing yourself to be perfect can increase your cortisol level (the stress hormone). Stress will set you back. Do what works for you! When you are wanting to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle, perfection is not the focus. 1585 Hope in the Midst of Doubt
When doubt settles in, where do your questions begin? Even when the answers are hidden, you can have hope in the midst of doubt. Because who wants to give power to the questions that keep you from moving forward. The questions that halt progress and widen the cracks to accept the questions as truth. 1584 Some Things Are Better Backwards
How much of your day is attempting to plan and make everything work together? Some things are better backwards. And that means you are wanting something different than you discovered along the way. Our goals and that which we desire to accomplish can peak in a variety of ways. Yet most of our ways are based on experience; therefore, altering what we actually do --- the follow through. "There is a method to my madness!" ~ Kristianne Wargo The weekend So if you are wanting to achieve a certain status, then some things are better backwards. It's time to face the music! The K.I.S.S. ~ F.A.C.E. the music! Just because you want something one way, doesn't mean you can get it that way. You have to be diligent about the process and that from which you are operating from. So f.a.c.e. the music. FOCUS on the present. Don't play the games and act like you have it all together when really, the situation has you. Focus on the presence within the situation. ATTENTION to detail. What do you need done in order to get the job done; or you moving in the direction you desire. CIRCUMSTANTIAL GUIDANCE is built on that which you can see and have both trust and faith. This is your barometer; the measurement in how you move through the goal at hand. EVERLASTING PERSEVERANCE. Never give up even when things get tough and the whole process falls apart. Everything you do has consequences, whether good or bad. As you maneuver your way to get to where you are headed, it requires flexibility, change on your part, in order to respond to what is changing around you. Just because you think something should always work one way, some things are better backwards. Instead of frustrating yourself more when you hit a brick wall, take a moment and face the music! 1582 Love Even When You're Mad
How much do you argue with your sweetheart? Emotions can wreck a relationship. But if you desire a strong marriage, you must love even when you're mad! Yet channeling that anger can be frustrating. You want to be right, or prove your spouse is wrong. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://facebook.com/groups/thewomenofimpact Love is not a convenience. It's not about getting your way and showing affection only when you get something in return. Marriage is a two-way street. Love is a verb. Put the two together and that requires work! And that work can be easy at times and challenging at other times. So what happens typically when you get mad at your spouse? You storm out of the room in a huff. Your tone of voice changes and has a bite to it. You yell loudly with great emphasis. You walk away quietly not doing anything, because you believe the situation is hopeless. You are short with him throughout the rest of the evening. You play the silent game; no speaking, only dirty looks. You may even sting him with your fiery laser eyes. You might have even thrown a few things. Of course, this might be the tip of the iceberg. What can you do when you are plain, plum mad? LOVE!!! The K.I.S.S. ~ Love even when you're mad! Love is an action. Love is patient. Love is kind. (1 Corinthians 13:4) Love requires us to decide whether to act or not to act. Either way, you are taking action. Just one, though, lives up to what God commands of us. "Let all you do be done in love." ~ 1 Corinthians 16:14 And that means love even when you're mad! Create a presence of calmness and self-control. Convey an attitude with a gentle heart; this uses your attitude to guide your responses toward your spouse. Serve with a grateful heart. (No expectations of a return on your investment; altruism.) 1581 When Your Children Outsmart You
Growing up, you think you're smarter than your parents. But what can you do when your children outsmart you as a parent? Getting older isn't fun; wrinkles, less energy, saggy -- well we'll keep that a secret for now. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://facebook.com/groups/thewomenofimpact But with aging, one would expect wisdom to accompany age. Sounds reasonable. However, parenting is nothing but reasonable. You have to expect the unexpected and brace for impact at all turns. Now that my children are on the brink of young adulthood (high schoolers) or the college students and grads, their wisdom is increasing. And mine??? Well there are days that I feel like the toddler. They are teaching me about so much. Even the classes they are taking I took too. Yet, I fumble my way through helping them with their studies. When did I get old? When did my children start learning more than me? Some parents would be quick to defend their own expertise. Never can a parent be wrong. Or, never can we fall short of perfection. "Parenting seems to be the right of passage to knowledge and wisdom." ~ Kristianne Wargo But what happens when your children outsmart you? Now, it's not that bad when they just let you say whatever and all is well. But when the bull comes out of the china cabinet, the battle is on. Children can challenge your knowledge and force your hand. And with their growing expertise, they learn how to challenge you, fair or not. We, as parents, can be quick to fight back. OR we can stimulate their leadership capabilities. The K.I.S.S. ~ Stimulate your child's leadership role! Knowledge doesn't have to be the "I am right, you are wrong" argument. You don't always have to be the one who knows your stuff. Children who openly express their opinions and knowledge are fluffing their leadership potential. If they can go up against you, imagine the impact they can make on the world. And who doesn't need more qualified leaders in our world today? So instead of always having to be right and keeping score as a parent, let go of your scoreboard and stimulate your child's leadership role. Build confidence in your child. Open up their eyes to their own potential. They have to see themselves shine under pressure. And yes, parents, we place a HUGE amount of pressure on our children no matter how hard we try not to. Refine the hesitancies. Where do they question themselves? These hesitancies are areas you can help sure up and support. Because where do we fall? Where we are weak. You are taking those weaker muscles and making them stronger. Celebrate the milestones. When we are growing, both in knowledge and leadership, key peaks will be conquered along the way. Some HUGE, others so tiny you might miss the pebble. But with each step, your child is spreading his/her wings and growing into a productive and influential individual. This is where you can stand proud as a parent. You broke the bull in the china cabinet and stimulated your child's leadership role. For that, I applaud you! It's not about being the "I am right, you are wrong." It's not about being the parent who fluffs only their own feathers. Parenting is recognizing when it's time to pass the belief torch to your child. 1579 How to Eat Healthy While Traveling
Are you one who travels a lot, whether for work or pleasure? How to eat healthy while traveling can be a lifesaver to your goals and lifestyle. Plus, who really wants to feel yucky when you're traveling? Not me, and I know you don't either. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? If you want to lose weight or maintain your lifestyle, eating is one area you must keep a handle on. Depending on your goals, whether gone for a few days, a week, or longer, you can definitely derail your hard work. But at the same time, you don't want to lose out on indulging and enjoying new foods, or your favorite restaurants. Before your travel begins, know the foods that are the BIG NO-NO!! You need to mind the NO! For most, this is a HUGE revelation. Doing this ONE thing can change how you travel. Now you're on the road again! The K.I.S.S. ~ On the road again! PREPARATION begins in the kitchen and on your phone. PORTABILITY is key to your success in what you can eat. Must be easy to pack, and watch the temperature regulation. TRANSPORTATION is vital. How will you be traveling (your car, rental car, flying)? Also, what will you transport your food in? You can use an insulated cooler, lunch pail, brown bag. FOODS on the go Meal replacement bar (high quality, Can your child eat it?) Vegetables & Fruits (Cut pieces thicker to help with bruising. If the veggie or fruit is currently refrigerated, then it needs to remain cool.) Nuts (Be aware of how much you are eating.) Trail mix (Make your own with dry foods. Otherwise, purchase a high quality trail mix. Watch out for the sugar content.) Boiled eggs (Keep cool in an insulated bag with cold pak.) Nut butters (Great on sandwiches, vegetables, and fruits. These do not require refrigeration.) Cheese sticks (You can buy individually packaged sticks or cut your own. Be sure to cut them thicker.) Sandwich bread (Use your favorite bread, pita bread, lettuce wrap, protein bread, tortilla wrap, crackers. If using lettuce, wrap a wet paper towel around the lettuce and place in container within the insulated cold bag. This will help keep the lettuce crisp.) Meats (Quality deli meats, cold chicken wings, etc.) To-go bowls that requires hot water only (soups, oatmeal). Protein bars Individual packets of nut butters, coconut oil, nuts, etc. EATING OUT on vacation or at restaurant Know where you are going. Research the menu and call ahead. If you have dietary restrictions, be sure to research the restaurant or call the restaurant to learn your options. Bringing food in a restaurant is OK if you are a paying client. Sometimes you have someone in the family that can't or won't eat certain foods. Be sure that the majority of your party is eating at the restaurant. Give yourself permission to enjoy a treat meal, once a week. When on vacation, don't eat a treat meal every meal. You can derail your goals. Watch out! Condiments and sauces can be the enemy when eating out. Get them on the side. Enjoy your meal. If you must rush through your meal or are on a time limit, don't make that your treat meal. Healthy Basics Reusable hot/cold thermos. Supplements like magnesium and probiotics. Favorite drink (tea, coffee, etc.) Portable containers You can most certainly eat healthy while traveling. Be present while eating. Savor the food. Soak in the location and ambiance. "Be present. Be incredible.
