10 Important Questions You Need to Ask Yourself Before Hiring Someone To Manage Your Clients You're ready to scale up your agency and hire a team member to manage your clients. Congrats! But, what do you need to make sure you're prepped with ahead of making this hire? At DOT & Co., we’re Client Account Managers. We work part-time in multiple agencies at once as that client-facing person, who project manages and is the glue between the agency team, and the client. Through our experience, we've learned that it takes TIME to implement someone into your team... even if they're highly trained by someone like us! Here's what you MUST do: understand that you're hiring a human, and they need time to learn about your agency. Patience is going to be key here, and it's not the type of thing where you plug n' play someone into your agency and they know everything in the first week. It takes time. So, we recommend you start here. Review our CAM Sample Task List to give you a sense of the role. Then, outline what's the most important for this person to learn within the first week, month and 3 months. Client Management Isn't What You Think It Is When we talk about the life of a Client Account Manager, there's a lot that goes into this role. Not only are CAMs client-facing and in-charge of client relationships, but there's also a ton of other PM facets and operational pieces that go into the role that can sometimes be overlooked. In this episode of the Happy Clients Podcast, we get a lil bit more granular on what our roles really entail. Of course, this looks different from agency to agency! All in all, we hope you'll see just how critical our roles are as a superhero in the agency 🦸‍♀️ Our role can include lots of admin work — don't get us confused with a VA, because the admin work we do is marketing-focused and project management-focused.  There are lots of meetings internally with the agency.   We create processes galore— we need to be tech-savvy and process-oriented in order to be suuuuuper efficient in our role.   There sometimes is a bit of hand-holding and pushing things to completion internally.   We take charge of reporting and digging into the advertising data to ensure our clients are educated on the progress of their campaigns and ad spend.   As CAMs, we become experts in wearing all the hats and probably wouldn't have it any other way.
