Episode 31: Project Censored and the Myth of the Free Press w/Mickey Huff and Andy Lee Roth
Aaron speaks with Mickey Huff and Andy Lee Roth of Project Censored. They discuss censorship, propaganda, and other subjects covered by Projects Censored's latest book, The State of the Free Press 2022—just released under their new publishing imprint, The Censored Press.
Mickey Huff is the director of Project Censored as well as a professor of social science, history, and journalism at Diablo Valley College where he co-chairs both the History and Journalism Departments. He is also executive producer and host of The Project Censored Show, a weekly syndicated public affairs program he founded with former Project Censored director Peter Phillips in 2010. The program originates from the historic studios of KPFA, Pacifica Radio, in Berkeley CA, airs on 50 stations around the US--and is also now a podcast online.
Andy Lee Roth is the associate director of Project Censored. He coordinates the Project’s Campus Affiliates Program, a news media research network of several hundred students and faculty at two dozen colleges and universities across North America. His research and writing have been published in a variety of outlets, including Index on Censorship, In These Times, YES! Magazine, Media, Culture & Society, and the International Journal of Press/Politics. Roth earned a PhD in sociology at the University of California, Los Angeles, and has taught at a number of universities. He also serves on the board of the Media Freedom Foundation.

In this eleventh episode of our Destiny Betrayed series on the JFK assassination, Aaron talks with James DiEugenio, the screenwriter and co-creator of Oliver Stone's new documentary JFK Revisited: Through the Looking Glass as well as JFK: Destiny Betrayed, the four-hour cut of the film coming to the US in late February. Jim is also the author of Destiny Betrayed: JFK, Cuba, and the Garrison Case and The JFK Assassination: The Evidence Today. Additionally, he runs the fantastic website Kennedys and King and makes regular appearances on Len Osanic's BlackOp Radio. In this conversation, Aaron and Jim discuss the recent attacks on Oliver Stone's JFK films leveled by people like Tim Weiner, Max Boot, Gerald Posner, and Jamie Kirchick.

This is Part 2 of our Battleground Indonesia collaboration with TheKultureDotTV. Aaron, Hailey Rounsaville, and Mike Oldfield cover the tumultuous period from the end of World War II and the Sukarno-led victory over the Dutch which established Indonesian independence. They then trace the imperial intrigues which unfolded throughout the Eisenhower years. Most notably, they discuss how American deep statesman Allen Dulles played the long game to seize control over the Indonesia's vast resource wealth.
