BSH Postgame 11/13: L, 5-1 v. Dallas Stars

Three games makes a streak and the Flyers now own a losing one, as they dropped a kinda weird game against the Dallas Stars at home at The Farg. Weird in the sense that the Flyers didn't really play bad. The Flyers just are bad. They tried really hard, gave the proverbial 110%, they even got a pretty good performance out of backup Felix Sandstrom. They just... aren't as good as the Dallas Stars. We're probably going to see a lot of this, folks, and we chatted about it after the game. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices Learn more about your ad choices. BSH Postgame 11/10: L, 5-2 @ Blue Jackets

In Johnny Gaudreau's first game against the Philadelphia Flyers since Chuck Fletcher committed organizational malpractice and refused to attempt to bring the star forward home, Johnny Hockey showed Philadelphia exactly what they're missing, scoring the game's opening goal and assisiting on two others in a game the Orange and Black lost 5-2 to the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Flyers weren't necessarily "bad," minus not having much jump early, they just appeared disjointed, and somewhat lacking in chemistry, and were unable to capitalize on several opportunities to extend the BJ's losing streak, which was halted at five games thanks in large part to Gaudreau. The loss was Carter Hart's first in regulation, and while he may not have been spectacular, all three goals he allowed (CBJ added a pair on empty-netters to pad what became a close game in the third period), were the results of turnovers leading to odd-man situations for Columbus. So, not the best showing for Philly in their first of what will be many encounters with Gaudreau over the next seven years, but they'll get right back at it on Saturday when they host Claude Giroux and the Ottawa Senators, in what will be the former captain's first game in Philadelphia since his 1,000th as a Flyer last season. That's all. Listen to the postgame podcast, please and thank you! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices Learn more about your ad choices. BSH Postgame 11/09: W, 5-1 vs. Blues

The Philadelphia Flyers beat the St. Louis Blues, 5-1, on Tuesday night at the Wells Fargo Center. The Flyers improved to 7-3-2 on the season, while the Blues dropped their eighth straight in regulation after a 3-0-0 start. Wade Allison, Travis Konecny, and Noah Cates all scored in the second period, to give Philly a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes. Ryan O'Reilly cut the score to 3-1 early in the third, but Lukas Sedlak restored the three-goal lead only 1:22 later, and then Owen Tippett finished the game off with 39 seconds left to ensure Felix Sandstrom (27 saves on 28 shots) notched his first career victory in his ninth career start. All of this lead to the question, "how are we evaluating this team now? What's the curve?" Sure, there are 70 games left, but (American) Thanksgiving is two weeks away, and as of now, the Orange and Black occupy an Eastern Conference playoff spot. How are people reacting to the reality that this probably won't be a bottom-five team in the standings? Listen to the podcast to find out! Learn more about your ad choices. Checking out the competition: Let's call this Blues clues

The St. Louis Blues had a pretty quiet summer and, thus far, a pretty uninteresting season. A few injuries, some underperforming players, and some questions in goal is about all they've got going. Laura Astorian of St. Louis Game Time shared the finer points of what we should expect from the Blues tonight. Learn more about your ad choices. Flyperbole Ep. 289: This is not a party

You know it was a bad weekend in Philly sports when the highlight is that a man ate a rotisserie chicken for the 40 straight day. Steve and Quigz discuss the chickenman, the Boston Bruins sneakily trying (and failing) to bring in Mitchell Miller, Carter Hart's continued dominance, and Rasmus Ristolainen's tough start with Philadelphia Flyers head coach John Tortorella. Checking out the competition: Hello, old friend

We're heading into the first game against Claude Giroux since he was traded last season and man, that's going to be weird. The Flyers will first meet G in his new house in Ottawa and in precisely one week, he'll be coming back to Philly. That'll be a fun game. Checking out the competition: How does this affect the Leafs?

If you pay any attention to the Toronto sports media, you might think the Maple Leafs are a disaster beyond remedy, not the .500 hockey team filled with superstars off to a bit of a slow start. The team is loaded up front but is that enough to overcome a very questionable situation in goal? Jeff Veillette of CanadaSportsBetting.ca gave us the inside scoop on what's been going on in Toronto that has Leafs fans so worked up. Learn more about your ad choices.
