Construction Champions Podcast E-23 Tom Reber – How To Survive The Business Fight 101

On this episode of Construction Champions Podcast Ron Nussbaum and Tom Reber talk about numbers and the daily fight you have as a construction business owner. Tom is an expert at overcoming the daily struggles that cause most to fail and he helps others over the roadblocks. Tom Bio My name is Tom Reber, and I come from a family of tradesmen. That’s me and my dad in the picture. My dad was a tile guy — my uncle and grandfather were painters. They worked hard. Each day they’d come home tired, dirty, and stinking of a job site. We were broke. I grew up in Wheaton, Illinois. It’s an expensive place to live. My friends’ dads were all doctors, lawyers, and dentists. I never had the money to hang with them. In the summers, I worked for my uncle. At least as a painter, I didn’t have to crawl around on the floor and lug heavy boxes of tile. I never wanted to be in the trades. It looked like a shitty option to me. So straight out of high school, I joined the Marines. When I got back from the Corps, I got a job in sales, selling rebar and other building materials. It paid the bills, and I was pretty good at it, but I was never going to get rich. A family friend needed his deck stained. I told him I could do it. A couple of days later, I pocketed $1,800. This painting thing was easy! I bought a beat up Ford van from my uncle for $1,200. He even threw in an extension ladder. I was in business! Construction Champions Podcast E-20 Elizaveta Tylor - Simple Steps To Make Next Tax Season Great!

On this episode of Construction Champions Podcast Ron Nussbaum and Elizaveta (Elizabeth) Tylor talk about books and your numbers, how to be prepared for when Uncle Sam comes calling every year. Elizabeth gives us easy steps to get our numbers in order for our business as well! Elizabeth’s Bio Hello! My name is Elizaveta Tylor and I’ve always been passionate about connecting with people and trying to help them with their work overload. I know how hard it is for a business owner to carry all the weight and perform multiple tasks at the same time. I have seen plenty of business owners trying to gather their financials in a hurry to make sure they don’t miss tax filing deadlines. One of the biggest misconceptions is that business needs to have the books done just for taxes. In fact, knowing how to read your financial statements could lead you to a more prosperous and profitable entity. You want to partner with a bookkeeper that would understand your business needs, someone you could brainstorm ideas and consult with, and share your concerns and success. I can help you stay in control of your numbers! Based in Grand Rapids, MI, I help not only local businesses to grow, but businesses all around the US. When I partner with my clients it is a professional commitment that brings value. I record transactions, hold meetings to discuss the financial reports, make suggestions by providing honest feedback, come up with profitability and budgeting strategies and create a useful system for your business.
