How You, Your Family, and Employees can get Better and Cheaper Primary Health Care in ABQ
This is the Albuquerque Business Podcast with your host Jason Rigby. Each week we interview leading local business leaders to inspire the vision and the spirit that is in every entrepreneur. We discuss strengths, weakness, strategies, systems and the problems we can all solve together to fulfill a shared vision of a new future for Albuquerque. This episode with Katherine Devine MSN, CNP from Well Life ABQ. We talk about an alternative to healthcare for your family and your employees (something that may seem too good to be true) Katherine explains in detail how her clinic can offer patient-centric care that spends ample time with you and your employees and provides a new way healthcare should be with lower costs! If you are an entrepreneur or business owner please go here. Bio here: Katherine "KC" Devine Founder and C-FNP KC Devine Raver is a Family Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner. She was born and mostly raised in Albuquerque. She completed high school in Hawaii and earned her Bachelors of Nursing from the University of Hawaii. She commissioned into the Army after college as a Registered Nurse. She has experience in Pediatrics, Intensive Care Nursery, Oncology, Urology and Family Practice. In addition to Hawaii she has lived in South Carolina, Virginia, Texas and Washington, DC before ultimately returning home to Albuquerque. Never forgetting the foundation of diet and lifestyle, she believes that modern medicine has a lot to offer. Under her guidance, the treatment plans formulated at Well Life ABQ offer recommendations for nutrition, lifestyle, mental health, vitamins, herbs and yes, even medicine. KC is a Mother, Nurse Practitioner, Avid Reader and Popcorn Lover. She is the founder of Well Life ABQ. In addition to seeing her patients, her mission is to grow and train other Well Life ABQ providers. This way Well Life ABQ can offer great healthcare to many more people. Here is a statement of their mission and philosophy: We want to be your medical home sweet home. We offer PATIENT-CENTRIC care, by scheduling enough time to actually get to know you and listen. Instead of quickly writing a prescription or referring you to another provider, we work with you to overcome your health problems through nutrition, lifestyle, supplements and medicine. We are committed to helping you get well, stay well and live well. Our philosophy is happy patients and happy providers equals better healthcare. We offer multiple treatment options and educate on the risks and benefits. The patient ultimately decides, follows and incorporates those recommendations into their life. We believe that health insurance does not equal quality health CARE. In fact, most of the time insurance gets in the way of care. Instead we offer a cost-effective membership that revolutionizes the relationship between patient and provider. We still use your insurance for labs, tests and referrals when you tell us to. We also believe in transparent costs and no surprise bills. We have also negotiated some amazing discounts on common medications and labs. Most of the time those discounts are even cheaper than using insurance. As a membership family practice, called Direct Primary Care, Well Life ABQ is able to schedule enough time with you to actually get to know you and listen to you. The 4 Disciplines of Execution: Achieving Your Wildly Important Goals by Chris McChesney, Sean Covey, and Jim Hulling. Amazing book get it here! This is part 3 we will do several parts to this book as it's that good! Here is a summary on the book: Do you remember the last major initiative you watched die in your organization? Did it go down with a loud crash? Or was it slowly and quietly suffocated by other competing priorities? By the time it finally disappeared, it's likely no one even noticed. What happened? Often, the answer is that the "whirlwind" of urgent activity required to keep things running day-to-day devoured all the time and energy you needed to invest in executing your strategy for tomorrow. The 4 Disciplines of Execution can change that forever. The 4 Disciplines of Execution (4DX) is a simple, repeatable, and proven formula for executing your most important strategic priorities in the midst of the whirlwind. By following the 4 Disciplines—Focus on the Wildly Important; Act on Lead Measures; Keep a Compelling Scoreboard; Create a Cadence of Accountability—leaders can produce breakthrough results, even when executing the strategy requires a significant change in behavior from their teams. 4DX is not theory. It is a proven set of practices that have been tested and refined by hundreds of organizations and thousands of teams over many years. When a company or an individual adheres to these disciplines, they achieve superb results, regardless of the goal. 4DX represents a new way to think and work that is essential to thriving in today's competitive climate. Why Self Love Doesnt Work...on it's own.
Special Guest Riley Lowry he is a leadership coach, and here is his bio and way to connect through LinkedIn. This is second time he has been on the show and we get heavy into Self Love and what that means for your success, and how it can hurt you. We also get into how to fix ruts in your business as a leader, and if your stagnant what is the formula to pull you out of the mediocre mud. I feel some of you have excuses to stay in the mediocrity of blame. Whether is employees, investors, owners, or even vendors. It all ads up to us taking 100% ownership in our organization and sailing the ship in the direction that is true north. Riley Bio: Leadership is the ability to influence action, in order to do so a leader must be inspired. This basic principle is a primary building block in my belief as a leader and for the past 20 years I have emulated this in order to grow. I've chosen a path that requires curiosity, patience and consistency all in which are exemplified in my experience as a General Sales Manager. Being the first of the kind for a fast paced retail operation, I had to establish processes and procedures that directly impacted training for Store Managers, Sales Managers and Sales Professionals in the organization. Also, mentoring other General Sales Managers throughout the company on a day to day basis, each day presented its own unique opportunities to provide mentorship through the most challenging situations as well as celebrate each individual's peak performances. Throughout my professional experience I have been fortunate to have worked with top talent as well as industry leaders. Please connect with him here. Emotions Drive Our Behaviors
I got an email this week from Steve Gutzler and he had these questions in his email and I think it is a powerful team exercise to ask them and then sit back and listen. Put these questions on your whiteboard and let your team answer them. Ohh before you begin the team meeting record it on your iphone just put on the recorder app… then listen to it multiple times. Here is part of the email… I've outlined four big questions to ask yourself (and maybe your team too) when it comes to creating these experiences. Was the customer "surprised and delighted" in a good way? Was the customer happier after the experience compared to before? Did they feel special and valued? Do they want to tell others about the experience they had? Emotions drive our behaviors. Emotions are everywhere and are the biggest factor in how we make decisions around our products and services. I encourage you to gather your team members and discuss the following: What do we do to make our customers feel unique, special, and valued? How do we include our customers in our process to ensure customization and that their needs are met? How do we surprise and delight to make the experience memorable? How do we create a level of loyalty that leads to lasting love and respect? People don't remember ordinary moments. People don't get excited about what is reasonably expected. People remember moments that make them feel: Special, Wonderful, Optimistic, Enriched, Safe, Respected, Excited, Successful, Surprised, Passionate, Happy Decide, as a team, what emotions you want to design for your customers. Avoid emotions that are ordinary. Design and deliver emotions that enhance a memorable customer experience. Here's to the emotional economy of your customers! —Steve Please go to www.abqpodcast.com where you can get show notes, resources, and links to everything we talked about today to help you navigate your journey as an entrepreneur and business owner in ABQ.
