[da giovedìscienza.it] Conosciamo le storie di stregoneria come uno degli aspetti che caratterizzano il Medioevo. È naturale che in un’epoca in cui la scienza faceva i suoi primi passi, gran parte dei fenomeni naturali apparissero magici. L’idea che qualcuno, venuto a conoscenza di quei segreti, li usasse per fini occulti e contro il resto dell’umanità era tutt’altro che peregrina. Le convinzioni religiose contribuivano a questo clima con la contrapposizione di diavoli e angeli, inferno e paradiso, premi e punizioni divine. È un clima culturale che si può riconoscere anche in quel capolavoro della letteratura italiana e mondiale che è la Divina Commedia di Dante Alighieri. Di qui deriveranno qualche secolo dopo i processi alle streghe, i roghi, le storture dell’Inquisizione. Oggi è tutto cambiato. Eppure il pensiero magico, e sul fronte simmetrico il pensiero diabolico e “stregonesco” sopravvivono in forme diverse. Il “complottismo” può essere analizzato sotto questa luce? Credenze e teorie stravaganti continuano a essere ben presenti e diffuse anche nella nostra epoca.
