The crypto space is having a moment. Most of us saw the Superbowl ads from a variety of crypto firms and the war in Ukraine is focusing more attention on crypto than ever before. People often compare the surge in crypto to the dot.com era but there is a big difference. Many of the large firms in crypto today are already profitable and have been able to raise almost infinite amounts of money. The lending space has come a long way since the original online lending pioneers came on the scene 15 years ago. Today, so much underwriting is done instantly, disbursements can be instant (even on weekends) and the loan application experience is quick and easy. Many lenders have expanded into new product lines to keep their customers engaged. Our next guest on the Fintech One-on-One podcast is Tom Burnside, the CEO and Co-Founder of LendingPoint. Tom was last on the show back in 2018 and obviously a lot has changed since then. LendingPoint has added many products beyond the simple term loans and is one of the few consumer lenders to have expanded into business lending. When we really started covering financial inclusion and financial health here at LendIt five years ago it seemed that we had a very long way to go. Tens of millions of consumers were still left outside the financial system with no credit score and therefore had little to no access to credit. That has changed a great deal in the last five years. At the same time we have seen an explosion in Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) platforms. Our next guest on the Fintech One-on-One podcast is Greg Wright, the Chief Product Officer at the Experian credit bureau. Experian has released multiple products and tools in recent years that brings the scored population of those actively looking for credit close to 100%. Banking is at an interesting inflection point. There is better technology available today than ever before that can really help banks run more efficiently as their customers are demanding faster and more user-friendly services. At the same time, just over the horizon is blockchain technology, DeFi, stablecoins and more that could make some of today's cutting-edge technology obsolete. My next guests on the Fintech One-on-One podcast are living at the center of this conundrum. Ryan Zacharia and Adam Aspes are both General Partners in JAM Special Opportunity Ventures. They have recently created a joint venture between Jacobs Asset Management and FINTOP Capital called JAM Fintop. They manage two funds, a $150 million BankTech fund and a new $110 million Blockchain fund.
