Theodore Cuyler: The Value Of Human Life

Theodore Cuyler was the pastor of the biggest Presbyterian church in New York City. He knew or met almost every person of importance that came through the United States of America in the 1800s. And yet his story is almost completely forgotten. His sermon, "The Value Of Human Life," is one that is both timeless and remarkably poignant in our era. In a time when people often struggle with purpose and motivation, Cuyler reminds us of how precious the gift of life is. Special thanks to Matt is the husband of one wife, the father of 4 kids, and a former Marine who works in IT supporting the Air Force who also moonlights as an amateur voice over artist. He came to saving faith in Christ in 2010, and since then has had a passion for defending the faith, discipling others, and participating in the Kingdom work that God has called him to . J. Gresham Machen: The Fear Of God

J. Gresham Machen lived and preached in the early 1900s through the 1930s. He became responsible for fighting for conservative Christianity in the Presbyterian church against the tide of liberalism that was sweeping the denomination. In this episode, we focus on how the flood of liberalism at the seminary level led to a problem on the mission field. This sermon was delivered in the mid 1930s and covered the subject "The Fear Of God." Too often we fear men or the opinions of man and do not properly fear and understand the Creator it is that we serve. E.K. Love - Mission of The Gospel Church

E. K. Love (Emmanuel K. Love) was a preacher at the famous First African Baptist Church of Savannah, Georgia. He was also a huge supporter of missions, a newspaper editor, a school starter, and deeply invested in politics. This sermon was delivered as a dedication ceremony at another church in the late 1800s. At this point he was already a pastor but he was dedicating the site of a new church, and by doing so he gives us the goal of the Christian church. Rev. Dr. Irwyn Ince serves as a pastor at Grace DC Presbyterian Church and Director of the newly formed Grace DC Institute for Cross-Cultural Mission. Dr. Ince is a graduate of City College of NY (B.E.E.E, 1995), Reformed Theological Seminary (M.A.R., 2006), and Covenant Theological Seminary (D.Min., 2016). He has contributed to the books Heal Us Emmanuel: A Call for Racial Reconciliation, Representation, and Unity in the Church, and All Are Welcome: Toward a Multi-Everything Church, and has a forthcoming book with InterVarsity Press entitled Beautiful Community: Cultivating the Life of Unity in Diversity as God's Image. He and his wife, Kim, have been married 27 years, and have four children - Jelani, Nabil, Zakiya, and Jeremiah. Oswald Chambers - Arriving At Myself

Oswald Chambers was a preacher who lived during World War 1. He died of a botched surgery in Egypt but before he did, he preached many sermons that were copied down by his wife. His wife took these and turned these into devotionals, the most famous of which is, "My Utmost For His Highest." In this sermon we look at where our identity should be in this world. God is the only one who we should put our identity in. When we surrender our identity to Christ we become what we are actually meant to be. Special thanks to Chase Replogle, host of the Pastor-Writer podcast, author, and pastor at Bent Oak Church. Joel and I were recently on an episode of the Pastor-Writer podcast and we recommend giving the show a listen when you can! If you'd like to financially support the show, go to our new Patreon! Chrysostom: The Power Of Man To Resist The Devil

Chrysostom was one of the most prominent church fathers of the ancient Roman Empire. His name meant "Golden-Mouthed," and his ability to speak was unparalleled. Despite living in Rome during a time of luxury, he emphasized living a simple life and fighting corruption. This sermon is the oldest one done on the show yet. It talks of the devil and the desire of people to blame the devil when they should really be the one to take the blame. Special thanks to Mark Hanson for reading this sermon. RT Selects - Hudson Taylor: The Source of Power

Hudson Taylor is one of the most famous missionaries in human history. The mission he led to China changed the Chinese church forever, leading to thousands converted in his time and the creation of a mission agency that is still around today, Overseas Mission Fellowship. He took the revolutionary route of not forcing western culture on the people he was trying to reach out to, but to adopt the customs that were not against God's word such as hair styles and dress. This helped change the mission field forever as missionaries became less cultural missionaries and more Gospel missionaries. In this episode, Hudson Taylor explains the source of power available to all Christians to do God's will for them in their lives. He also encourages us to live a life filled with purpose to win lost souls to Christ. John Bunyan: Last Sermon

John Bunyan wrote one of the most famous books of all time, Pilgrim's Progress. But many people forget that he was also a preacher. And a soldier and a prisoner for Christ. We explore the life of this seventeenth century preacher who was not expected to be much of anything in life. This sermon, "Last Sermon," is the last sermon he ever preached. Preached 12 days before he died he makes the case that we can know whether we are saved by comparing our physical lives to our spiritual ones. Special thanks to Mike Clark for reading this sermon. Mike is an evangelical Christian pastor with more than 20 years of ministry experience ranging from Student Ministry, to Worship Ministry, Evangelism Training, and preaching.   He is currently the worship pastor of The Way Church in Denver, CO, where he has served faithfully since July of 2014.   We have new T-Shirt designs and an amazing new mug to order!
