John Newton: He Shakes the Heavens and the Earth
Check out our new show! Martyrs and Missionaries
In this episode of Revived Thoughts we examine the relationship between William Wilberforce and John Newton. The way the two of them worked together to defeat slavery and the actual process that they worked through.
In this sermon, "The Shaking of Heaven and Earth," one listens to a sermon that asks us to think about the God who shakes the Heavens and the Earth and how these are not just words on paper. This is what God will someday actually do.
Special thanks to Tony for this week's episode.
Tony Givhan has graduate degrees from Western Michigan University and Grand Rapids Theology Seminary. He earned his PhD in Philosophy of Science from Michigan State University. He has been married to Verma for 40 years and has five adult children. When he is not doing philosophy he is spending time with his six grandchildren.

John Stam: Commencement Address to the Moody Bible College Class of 32!
Check out our new show! Martyrs and Missionaries
D. L. Moody's famous Bible Institute had a commencement address from John Stam two years before he and his wife are martyred on the mission field. His incredible life will serve as a witness and a testimony to God's good work. This biography is part of a two parter with the other half of the story available on the first episode of Martyrs and Missionaries. Check it out here.
In this sermon, "Commencement Address," you will hear the echoes of sermons by Hudson Taylor as he encourages his audience to be willing to go to the ends of the Earth for the Gospel. This address and desire to live and serve God is as timely today as it was then.
Special thanks to Chips Ross for reading this week's sermon. Chips Ross was born and raised in California and got converted to Christ when he was ten at the re-enactment of a drama on DL Moody's life. I enrolled at the Master's College but after a semester in Israel he decided to become a pastor. He met his wife, Christchanna, and has since had four children together. They live in Fresno and he serves as the pastor of Westwood Baptist Church since September of 2015.
He also takes time out of his busy schedule to take nerdy, younger Christians under his wing to mentor them which is appreciated by them.

Samuel P. Jones: Quit Your Meanness!
Samuel P. Jones was once said to be the most famous preacher in all of America outside D L Moody. He was a famed prohibitionist who fought for temperance. He was also former alcoholic who was once known for his terrible drinking binges.
In this sermon, "Quit Your Meanness!" listen to a sermon that challenges our addictions to different sins. And forces us to accept that we need to have victory over the sins of our life in Christ rather than be bound by them.
Special thanks to Justin Rea for this sermon. Justin Rea is the founder of soundinworship.com, a website designed to point Christians to worship music from theologically sound sources. He is also the host of the If Songs Could Preach podcast.

Boniface: Faith and Works Of Love
Boniface was known as the "Apostle to Germany." A great continuation of the episode we did on "Gregory The Great," who sent missionaries to England. Now England, about a century later, is sending missionaries to continental Europe. And Boniface is a literal axe-wielding no non-sense preacher who was so beloved his church in England followed him into Europe.
In this sermon, Boniface preaches a final farewell to a group and leaves them with his final thoughts on what makes up the faith. He goes through the disciplines and virtues that are expected among the members of Christ.
Special thanks to Ed Beckell for this sermon. Pastor Ed Backell is a Washington state native, and has taught for 30+ years in churches in Oregon, Washington and Nebraska, currently in Warden, WA. He has been serving Warden Community Church since May, 2010

Charles Spurgeon: The Good Samaritan
Troy and Joel got to interview the current curator of the Spurgeon Library at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and ask him about Charles Spurgeon's life. Dr. Geoff Chang of the Spurgeon Library did a wonderful job telling us about Spurgeon's life and also narrated this week's episode of Revived Thoughts (he also selected the sermon!). The stories about Spurgeon's time at the orphanage are a must listen!
**Make sure to watch the full video on our Facebook page or on our website! Links below**
This sermon from Charles Spurgeon challenges us to look at the story of the Good Samaritan and really ask ourselves if we would do what he did. Spurgeon calls out the tough conditions of his time.
Check out the Spurgeon Library and the work they are doing by bringing Spurgeon's last sermons out to the public. You can click the link here to learn more about them.

John Gill: Christ the Savior from the Storm
John Gill is one of the founders of Baptist thought. He preached in the 1700s and grew up under religious persecution. He would end up preaching in a very special church.
The sermon he preached is at the commemoration of a great and terrible storm that took on London. He preached about how Christ is the savior of the storm and the story of the disciples in the boat.
An extremely special thanks to Patrick Studebaker. He is one of the co-hosts of Cave to the Cross Apologetics podcast.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer: Forgiveness
Dietrich Bonhoeffer has been featured on the show in his sermons, "Lazarus and the Rich Man," and "Overcoming Fear." Now listen to him preach a powerful and challenging sermon on Forgiveness during a dark period of time in his nation's history.
This sermon is actually delivered as a part of an actual church service. For the first time in 85 years this sermon was preached to people in hopes that they would be encouraged. Listen to this special audio and listen to this incredible message that will leave you re-thinking what you know about forgiveness.
An extremely special thanks to Dustin Garrett. He works as a representative at Samaritan Ministries. He also is the worship director at Liberty Bible church.
