Randy Weiner has worked in education, ed tech and consulting throughout his career. In 2012, He co- founded and served as the first Chairman of the Board at Urban Montessori Charter School (UMCS) in Oakland, CA—the nation's first public Montessori, Arts Integration and Design Thinking school. Randy is also a co-founder and the CEO at BrainQuake, a three- time U.S. Department of Education Small Business Innovation Award winner. Along with his Brass Tacks Innovations consulting firm partner, Dr. James Bailey, Randy co-authored "The Daily SEL Leader: A Guided Journal", published in March 2021 by Corwin Press. A Teach for America alum and father to two daughters, Randy taught for five years in Oakland and Madagascar, and holds two BAs from Middlebury College and an MA in Education from Stanford. James' career has encompassed teacher, principal, school turnaround, principal consultant, and superintendent roles spanning Texas, Colorado, and Wyoming. As Superintendent in Wyoming, his district was the first member in the state to join the League of Innovative Schools after reform efforts around personalized learning and social-emotional development. Dan Butler serves as the principal of Epworth Elementary School in the Western Dubuque Community School District. Previously, he was the principal of Epworth and Farley Elementary Schools simultaneously for four years focusing on positive relationships with all members of the learning community, high impact instructional techniques, building leadership capacity in others, and establishing successful school cultures. Prior to serving as an administrator, Dan taught third and fifth grades in the Western Dubuque District, as well as serving as a baseball and football coach. Failure Before Success
Julie Warner is an education writer and national and international consultant with a specific focus on educational technology and teacher wellness. She holds a doctorate in education from Teachers College, Columbia University and worked as a secondary teacher and college professor before stints as an Education Policy Advisor in the U.S. Senate and the White House and later overseeing the teacher issues portfolio within the U.S. Department of Education's internal think tank.
