The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show

For the last few weeks, the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show has been on the hunt for Ireland's Greatest Accent and have heard from people the length and breadth of the country. On the final day of the search, Gift Grub got involved and there were representatives from each of the finalists. Heather Humphries made her pitch for Monaghan, President Michael D. Higgins was representing Galway, Daniel O'Donnell read a car manual to display the beauty of Donegal, and Pat Spillane went all in for Kerry.

There was a big reaction when a woman called in to Liveline after seeing an apparition of Padre Pio in her bannister. It turns out she's not alone - on Gift Grub, there were hundreds of apparitions being reported. Joe heard about Twink appearing in someone's Weetabix, the image of Chris deBurgh in snooker balls, and even a weeping Daniel O'Donnell in the condensation on a shower door.

Earlier this week Davy Fitzgerald announced that he and his wife Sharon welcomed a baby boy in May this year. This was irresistible to Gift Grub, so in a very special Ireland's Fittest Family, Davy Fitz took on some exciting challenges with his son Daithí Óg. He drew on his coaching experience to get through the feeding test, the nappy change, and rounded it out with first words.

Today's Gift Grub brough us to The Last Word and their Courts' Correspondent Frank Greaney. Frank gave Matt the details on a disturbing case before the courts of a man who has been at large in Ireland for a number of years - Dermot Bannon. The accused arrives to people's home uninvited and makes a number of false promises, before toasting the destruction he leaves behind with champagne.

Graham Norton's fourth novel 'Forever Home' is out now and he stopped by Today FM to catch up with Ian. Graham spoke about his amazing year that included getting married in the sun in West Cork, and it turns out the locals sometimes give his new husband a different name. And because Graham is just like the rest of us, Ian also quizzed him on the dishwasher, putting out the bins and playing sport.

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championships are over for another year, and among the amateur and professional players was Ronan Keating. On Gift Grub Ronan was singing the praises of the tournament, and was also able to reveal some rule breaking that forced him to take a stand.

Manchester United fans have been left shell shocked after their 6-3 loss at the Manchester Derby over the weekend. For Gift Grub Roy Keane was at hand to help the Man Utd fans express the shame they should be feeling today, and he also had some advice for the team as well. Man City legend Alan Quinn also stopped by to ask some important questions of Roy.

With Davy Fitz returning to manage the Waterford footballers, rumours are rife that he’s bringing in Donnacha O’Callaghan to help the squad. John Mullane joined the conversation this morning to voice his feelings towards the rumours.
