The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show

Last week, the short film 'Night of the Daniels' was released on YouTube and it stars Daniel O'Donnell as himself, saving Dungloe from... Daniels? It's hard to explain so for Gift Grub, Ian went to the man himself to get an explainer on what it's all about.

Rylan Clark has done so much since he appeared on X Factor a decade ago, and he goes in depth on everything in his new book 'Ten: The Decade That Changed My Future'. He dropped in to chat to Ian about doing what he needed to do on X Factor, getting his own BBC radio show in Terry Wogan's studio, and whether or not he's ever had a "don't you know who I am" moment.

Neven Maguire is back with his 16th cookbook 'More Midweek Meals' and he stopped by the studio to chat to Ian and drop in his dinner too! The book is full of recipes that take the hassle out of dinner, but there is one recipe in there you wouldn't expect to see from a Cavan man. Ian also asked Neven why his incredibly successful restaurant still is without a much deserved Michelin star.

Heavy traffic tried to stop them, but Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen made it in to the Today FM studios to chat to Ian! They gave us an update on the Aisling universe which includes the fifth and final book in the series, and the film adaptation that is now a TV series. Emer and Sarah have just finished the 3rd episode, and they haven't ruled out bringing Aisling to the stage one day too.

The Banshees of Inisherin has been getting rave reviews and generating lots of Oscars buzz, and Ian got to sit down with the two leads - Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. They spoke about being reunited 14 years after In Bruges for another Martin McDonagh film, and one that is surprisingly much darker. They also told Ian about how the story of a friendship break up has prompted lots of people to share their own break up stories with both of them.

Michael D Higgins was on the line for Gift Grub this morning, but it wasn't to talk about the chaos going on in the British Government. The President was left absolutely flabbergasted when a news story about the housing crisis was followed by Dermot Bannon flouncing around mansions in an ad for Dermot Bannon's Incredible Homes.

It's all over the papers - Liz Truss is out after 44 days making her the shortest serving Prime Minister in British history. On Gift Grub, Leo Varadker was very entertained by the notion that the Prime Minister would be replaced without even having an election... And Boris Johnson was live from his holiday in the Carribean to answer the questions of whether he's considering a return.

Earlier in the week we brought you the news of a restaurant owner in New York banning James Corden for poor treatment of staff. On this morning's Gift Grub, some listeners were in touch with some more outbursts they witnessed from James Corden. They had footage of him as he let loose at Nevin Maguire, and was also spotted losing the rag in a Centra in Blanchardstown. James himself then got in touch with the show to try and smooth things over, but you can probably guess how that went...

It was announced this week that Des Cahill will be leaving the Sunday Game after 15 years presenting the show. Gift Grub managed to get access to the auditions as RTÉ look for their new host, and some unexpected names were there - from our own Matt Cooper, to Miriam O'Callaghan, to Marty Whelan.

After a great win for Liverpool over Man City on Sunday, the Gift Grub microphones were there to catch all the action. In the Man City dressing room, poor Erling Haaland was starving for goals. Meanwhile in the Liverpool dressing room, Jurgen Klopp has figured out exactly what he needs to do for his team to win.
