#925 There's No Magic Pill - Russ Jarrett
Exercise Physiologist, High-Performance Coach and Educator, Russ Jarrett is back and for this episode, we revisit some the over-looked, under-utilised and misunderstood fundamentals of creating and maintaining a new-and-improved health state. Getting ‘in shape’ (whatever that means to you personally) is a bit about knowledge and a lot about what we do with that knowledge. In 2022, we’ve never had more information, inspiration and education but interestingly, we’ve never been in worse shape (collectively). The sooner we stop looking the quick-fix, shortcut and magic pill, and the sooner we start taking total ownership of our choices, actions and outcomes, the sooner the ‘magic’ happens. Funny that. russelljarrett.com.auSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

#924 Turning Ideas Into Reality - Russ & Tara Jarrett
Some people have been hoping that the ‘opportunity would knock’, that they would ‘fall on their feet’, that things would ‘work themselves out’ or that ‘their time would come’ for decades. So much hoping, wanting and waiting, so little doing. At the same time, some people have been creating their own opportunities, taking chances, doing the work and turning their ideas, plans and dreams into real-world success stories. This episode of TYP is a conversation for people who might (at some stage) want to consider creating their own small (or big) business, brand, product or service. It’s full of ideas, stories, advice, warnings and encouragement. Enjoy. @PilatesSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

#923 Tech, Tai Chi & Teenage Trauma - Harps & Patrick
TYP regular Patrick is traversing the globe in pursuit of all-things tech and for this episode, we caught up with him in Bath (the town in the UK, not the thing you wash in). It was a different but fun conversation, covering everything from Tai Chi in Germany and a geek convention in Amsterdam to the latest iPhone, the Queen’s passing and Patrick being catapulted off a treadmill as a teenager. Ok, somewhat eclectic. Enjoy. genesisfx.com.auSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

#922 Don't Say The 'D' Word - Nikki Morrison
Death. There.. I said it. In almost a thousand episodes, this is best debut (never been on a podcast) by any TYP guest. Not only has Nikki Morrison not been on a podcast but she’d never even listened to one until yesterday (in preparation for our chat). Nikki and I went to Uni together (my first time around) and since then, she’s filled a range of fascinating roles, done some amazing work (it’s more of a calling) and has dedicated herself to a life of love and service. I don’t want to give too much away but I will say that these days Nikki works with a broad range of people going through grief and loss, as well as being an end-of-life Doula, supporting people who are dying (literally being by their side until their last breath). Despite the subject matter, I found this to be a beautiful, compassionate and uplifting conversation about something that is an inevitability for all of us. Oh.. and by the way, I’m pretty sure she’s an actual angel. Enjoy. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

#921 Living Younger Longer - Dr. Norman Swan
I almost wasn’t smart enough to have this conversation but I just managed to hang on by the skin of my metaphoric teeth. Dr Norman Swan, trained in paediatrics, was one of the first medically qualified journalists in Australia, with a broadcast career spanning more than 30 years. He currently hosts Radio National's ‘The Health Report’ and co-hosts ‘Coronacast’, which has 2.6 million monthly downloads. He also reports on the ABC TV's 7.30, is a guest reporter on ‘Four Corners’; appears on ‘The Drum’ and is an occasional host of Radio National Breakfast. His last book ‘So You Think You Know What's Good for You?’ became a bestseller in 2021 and his latest book ‘So You Want to Live Younger Longer’ is flying off the shelves (both physical and virtual). #920 Out Of The Chaos - Nicho Plowman
Nicho Plowman is a Vedic Meditation teacher and the co-founder of Insight Timer who, at one stage of his journey, was a high-flying, hard-living entrepreneur heading down a path of personal (mental, emotional, physical) destruction. Fortunately for him (and us), he turned the crazy-ness around and I got to have a fascinating chat with him at TYP Central. Enjoy. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

#919 Sh*t Friends (& Good Ones) - Dr. Amanda Ferguson
Dr. Amanda Ferguson is back at TYP Central and this time we discuss having a litmus test for friends, differentiating between familiarity and friendship, why marriage might be on the slide (as a cultural norm), how people rationalise suicide, understanding the role of the conscious and subconscious mind, clinical hypnotherapy vs. performance hypnotherapy, keeping our mind and brain young (in terms of cognitive performance and function) and lots more.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

#918 D*ck Pills, CBD Oil & Legal Weed - Nima Alavi
Compounding Pharmacist and TYP regular Nima Alavi is back, and this time we do a deep dive into the ongoing mental health consequences of covid, the why, how and what-to-do about erectile dysfunction, the idea (and potential industry) of ‘feel good’ prescription drugs, psychedelics being used to treat mental health issues (they’re doing trials at my Uni - Monash), testosterone therapy (the pros, cons, misinformation and hysteria), boosting our immune system naturally, the tanning peptide with the ‘side effect’ of making people horny and lots more. Enjoy. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

#917 High Performance - Harps
High Performance (the term) can mean a myriad of things, depending on context, situation, task, environment and the individual aiming to be a high performer. When I talk about high performance (as a Coach), I’m talking about our willingness (you and me) to do the best we can, wherever we are, with whatever we have available to us (knowledge, skill, talent, genetics, resources, energy, time). In popular culture, high performers are often identified as the uber-talented, successful, intellectual, athletic, beautiful and of course, rich. But then there’s the group I inhabit (maybe you do too).. the “I’ll never win a Nobel Prize, Olympic Final or Grammy Award” group. What about us? Can we be high performers? The answer is, absolutely yes. This is an interesting conversation about the psychology, process and practice, of high performance. Enjoy.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

#916 Madder Than A Cut Snake - Jacqui Cooper
Jacqui Cooper is a five-time World Champion aerial ski-jumper, five-time Olympian, Corporate Speaker, Mum of three, wife of one, ex-athlete of mine, hi-energy, perfectionistic, obsessive, OCD… maniac (self-described). Someone once referred to her as ‘madder than a cut snake’. She doesn’t disagree. This chat was funny, inspirational and surprising. We spoke about maximising potential, the importance of managing our mind, self-regulation, white-line fever (she still has it), her 32 injury-related surgeries (not a typo), the risk, fear and logistics of flying off a ramp at 70kph and being the first woman in history to do a triple twisting, triple somersault with skis strapped to her feet(!), her (metaphoric) sh*t-shield, her inability to meditate (there’s a shock) and lots more. Enjoy. *Oh BTW, after we signed off at the end, Jacqui told Melissa and I a killer story, which we decided to include, so stick around after we say good-bye. jacquicooper.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
