Please Don’t Punch the GM: Adventures in Gaming Therapy at PAX South 2016
Games like Dungeons and Dragons are often regarded by pop culture as nerdy and antisocial, but Wheelhouse Workshop founders Adam Davis and Adam Johns use them to help their neurodiverse teen clients become more confident and socially capable. Come hear how these lifelong gamers used their training in counseling, drama therapy, and human development to embark on a new frontier in therapy, ask questions about your own gaming experience, and celebrate how the games we love are more than just games. This panel was recorded at PAX South 2016.

RPPR Episode 125: Masks of Nyarlathotep Post Mortem
Masks of Nyarlathotep is a classic (some would say quintessential) campaign for Call of Cthulhu. Given how much we play CoC, I thought it would be remiss of us not to record a run of it. It took us about a year to get through the campaign, but our dedicated group of investigators solved mysteries, fought cultists, and confronted horrible abominations from beyond time and space. I heavily changed the core campaign, using advice from Adam Scott Glancy and the invaluable book, the Masks of Nyarlathotep Companion. Find out what I changed and why and how the players thought of the game.

Patreon Preview: WoD The Heck – Dirty Secrets of the Black Hand
To celebrate our first year of the RPPR Patreon, we have created new milestones so we can create more podcasts for you! After Hours has proven to be a hit with our Patreon backers and there’s a lot of interest in the Old World of Darkness, so I merged the two to create WoD The Heck. It’s a humorous look at the oWoD, by a mix of veterans and newbies. This episode is a free preview of the podcast. If you like it, please consider backing the RPPR Patreon. If we reach the $1,600 milestone, we will make this a monthly podcast for all backers!
In this episode, Shaun and I, along with Faust from the Third Wheel look at one of the most hated books in the entire oWoD – The Dirty Secrets of the Black Hand. This book broke all the rules: blatant crossovers from multiple gamelines, unabashed powergaming, and worst of all, it made the kewlest, most munchkin discipline, Vicissitude, into a bad thing. Truly, unforgivable crimes.

Interview with Jeff C. Carter and Edward M. Erdelac on the Mecha West Kickstarter
Ask anyone, from the lowliest farmhand in Missouri to the wealthiest banker in New England who they consider to be the most important figure in history, chances are they’ll give the same answer: Robert Fulton. By his simple act of installing steam engines into antiquated clockwork armors from the Napoleonic Wars, he changed the face warfare forever. Armed with massive Colt repeaters, these mechanical behemoths were the premier soldiers of the American Civil War, with both North and South creating untold devastation that fractured the nascent United States by wars end.
Now a more dangerous Wild West has risen from the ashes of Reconstruction. Iron Rangers from the US Calvary clash with Comanche Iron Killers. Cattle rustlers conduct midnight raids in rickety Turkey Walkers and groups like the Chinese Freeman Society and New Africa fight to hold claim to their new territories. This is the world of Mecha West.
Mecha West is a standalone game setting utilizing the MECHA RPG system. Written by Chris C. Carter and Edward M. Edelac, the game presents an alternate history look at Post-Reconstruction America where Steampunk Mechs are the staple weapons for lawmen and wandering gunmen alike. Aaron interviewed Chris and Eric about the setting and what influences they took from the real history of the Wild West. Mecha West is currently running a Kickstarter, so if you like Steampunk warfare, give them a look. If you also interested in running MECHA games, their current games are available for purchase on DrivethruRPG.

Interview with artist and animator Darrell Claunch
Last year, I briefly worked on a film called the Weight. I worked under Darrell Claunch, a local artist and graphic designer. He’s worked in video games and in Hollywood as a compositor on giant films like Iron Man. After talking to him on our trips to and from the movie set, I thought this might be an interesting podcast for RPPR, so here we are. We even talk about how the office politics of film studios could be used as fodder for RPGs. Enjoy! Be sure to check out Darrell’s blog and Twitter as well.

News: Please get your Red Markets playtest reports in by December 20. Thanks for supporting the game!
Synopsis: The new Fallout game has a settlement leadership feature that allows the player to design and run small communities.
