In this "Inspiring TED Talks Rewind" HCI Podcast episode, Dr. Jonathan H. Westover (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonathanhwestover/) explores Ross Cunningham's recent TED video, "How Motivation Drives Success" (Originally Aired July 31, 2021). See the video here: https://youtu.be/vvCwPyMZIB4.
Video Overview: "Youth Speaker Ross Cunningham shares his personal perception of what motivation truly is, and explains how one can utilize it to overcome any challenge. His interest in this topic was originally sparked by his experiences concerning the concepts of motivation in sport. It also explored the importance of perseverance despite setbacks from a lack of natural ability. This inspired him to take part in this TEDx Youth Event and share his views on this topic. Ross Cunningham is a student attending Frankfurt International School (FIS). He is initially from Scotland; however, he has spent a majority of his life in Germany. He is in his second year of the IB program, and takes psychology, biology and economics at higher level. He has written an extended essay investigating whether intelligence or motivation is the more important factor in the educational success of students, and his discoveries have intrigued him, inspiring him to participate in the upcoming TED talk event as a speaker surrounding this subject. In his spare time, he is member of a local badminton team, member of the Model United Nations and member of “Operation Smile”, a service group supporting children with cleft palates. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community."

S26E11 - The Leadership Summit - ’Bluer than Indigo’ Leadership: Alchemizing Your Leadership Capabilities
In this HCI Podcast episode, Dr. Jonathan H. Westover (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonathanhwestover/) shares his presentation for The Leadership Summit at the University of South Florida: 'Bluer than Indigo' Leadership: Alchemizing Your Leadership Capabilities." See the video here: https://youtu.be/04Ffxzme_Do.
Session Overview: "There are leadership competencies and capabilities needed for the future of work, and it isn’t rocket science. There are ordinary, everyday actions that will produce extraordinary results if we can just uncover them and be consistent. Among the most important of these everyday actions is illustrated by the Korean proverb 청출어람 or 줄람지예, which translated means “Bluer than Indigo.” Indigo is the bluest of blues, so to have something that is bluer than indigo is truly remarkable—a deep, vibrant, and brilliant blue. Koreans use this proverb to describe the ideal relationship between leader/teacher and pupil—that is that the leader/teacher (indigo) trains and teaches the pupil to become bluer than indigo, or greater than himself/herself."

S26E9 - WE-Forum Feature Rewind - What Future of Jobs Do We Want to Build?
In this "WE-Forum Feature Rewind" HCI Podcast episode, Dr. Jonathan H. Westover (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonathanhwestover/) explores the recent WE-Forum video, "What Future of Jobs Do We Want to Build?" (Originally aired December 9, 2020). See the full video and details here: https://youtu.be/oxkXM7mRJhM.
After years of growing income inequality, concerns about technology-driven displacement of jobs, and rising societal discord globally, the combined health and economic shocks of 2020 have put economies into freefall, disrupted labour markets and fully revealed the inadequacies of our social contracts. As we emerge from the crisis, we can proactively shape more inclusive, fair and sustainable economies, organizations, societies and workplaces. To do so, we must mobilize the best of human capabilities, technologies, innovative policies and market forces in service of this new vision. The World Economic Forum’s Jobs Reset Summit is serving as key milestone in supporting such a mobilization, working closely with partners around the world. Learn more: wef.ch/jobs-reset-summit.
