S20E14 - Systems Thinking: Working Effectively in a Collaborative Environment
In this HCI Podcast episode, Dr. Jonathan H. Westover (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonathanhwestover/) shares his keynote with the Lendlease LLevel UP program, out of Singapore, titled: "Systems Thinking: Working Effectively in a Collaborative Environment."
Session Overview: A key characteristic of a future that is VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) is the interconnectedness and complexity of the problems we need to solve. Businesses of today operate in networked ecosystems and constant feedback loops; issues are interlinked, cut across the usual business silos, and with multiple perspectives to consider. And yet, we tend to think in linear and causal ways. To better manage the challenges of today, we need to consider problems holistically in terms of their structure and the interactions between components and their environments. Systems thinking helps in framing complex problems which are often misdiagnosed when using linear thinking. Come learn how systems thinking can give you a significant advantage and help you thrive in the future of work.
