I'll be revealing how many of you have had your livelihoods affected by Covid and the shocking amount of you who are struggling to make ends meet.I then focus in on the Beauty Backed initiative, thought up by Caroline Hirons. They have already raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for beauty industry members who are struggling. Millie Kendall, the CEO of The British Beauty Council tells me about the campaign and her frustrations with the current situation.Later I talk to Chloe Rigby and Mel Sunshine, two amazing salon owners/estheticians who share how their business and livelihoods have been affected and I'm also joined by The Telegraph's Beauty Director, Sonia Haria. Theresa Edward: The Skin Alchemist
In this episode I'm joined by Theresa Edward, the wonderful founder of skin/body brand Skin Alchemists.Theresa has the most wonderful story that begins on the Island of St Lucia where her Aunty was one of three herbalists who saw to the medical needs of many of the islanders. Theresa watched and learnt and became passionate about the wonderful ingredients that the island provided.Years down the line and suffering from stress and the effects of living in London, Theresa returned to the island and within weeks was feeling so much better. From that moment she started to formulate the idea for her brand which would contain lots of botanical ingredients from farms on St Lucia and would include many of the experiences and learnings from the island.Skin Alchemists was born! Her energy, ambition and joy in her age are just so incredibly inspiring.Next I read out all your messages and emails talking about how you feel society views ageing. I also reveal the results of the polls asking whether you're scared of looking your age and if you dislike the words "anti-ageing" and "anti-wrinkle" that are still so often used by beauty brands. the results are fascinating.Finally I interview author and journalist Anne Karpf. She's written a book called "How To Age" and is very vocal about how we need to shift our perception of and conversation around ageing.
