185: Dr Leila Masson on Heavy Metal Toxicity - diagnostics, testing and treatment
Joining me for the 3rd time on the show, Dr Leila Masson, this time talking about heavy metal toxicity in children - but as she rightly points out, you want to ensure you don't have metal toxicity at any age, for as we get older, they are a risk factor in neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's so it's by no means a show reserved for parents. Leila is a Sydney based specialist paediatrician with nearly 3 decades in the field. She's the author of “Children's Health A-Z” a parent's guide to natural therapies for common childhood ailments. She specialises in nutritional and environmental medicine for children's health issues, including allergies, asthma, behavior problems, autism spectrum disorders and ADHD. 184: Gabriela Rosa: Fertility for the win - even when it’s hard
Have you reached a roadblock on your fertility journey? (And if this ship has sailed for you but not for someone you know - can you share this important show with them? Big thank you!) This week I speak with the talented Gabriela Rosa, fertility specialist, who helps people once they believe there is no help left to seek out - AND she and her team produce results; the kind of results that mean cute little bubbas. Fertility can be an emotionally trying time if it's a difficult road and today we discuss some of the advances that have been made, some of the stones she finds often unturned when couples and individuals come to her for help. I hope you get what you need from this week's show and invite you to discover Gabriela's fertility challenge and clinical work via our shownotes, where we have everything you will need to connect to. 183: Dr Jade Teta: muscle, metabolism and mindset
How's your relationship with your metabolism going? Are you the person who feels like none of the diets seem to work for you, while you look on at a friend who dropped 6 pounds in a week doing the exact same thing? This is going to be a transformative show, in that case. Dr Jade Teta is an inspiring student of life, an author, and a naturopathic doctor. He's a teacher through and through in the way he helps distil difficult concepts and situations into information you can confidently move forward with. While his speciality as a doctor is integrative endocrinology (the study and treatment of hormones and metabolism) he is passionate about exercise, strength, life coaching and philosophy. I hope you enjoy this interview where Jade helps us demystify metabolism, muscle, calories and hormones to help you feel your best and keep your SCHMEK in check (that'll make sense after the show!) 182: Tom Cronin on how meditation can save the world
In this week's show, the final show of our Low Tox Mind mini series, I speak to one of my favourite meditation teachers Tom Cronin, also an author and filmmaker of the recent film/book The Portal. Tom spent 26 years in finance markets as one of Sydney's leading bond and swap brokers. He discovered meditation in the early stages of his career, when the anxiety and chaos he was experiencing had hit a crisis point, and it completely transformed his world, both personally and professionally. Founder of The Stillness Project, a global movement to inspire one billion people to sit in stillness daily, Tom is passionate about reducing stress and chaos in people's lives and as we're always reminded on the show - A better world starts with a healthier, happier us. We discuss how meditation is a key factor in saving the world, through personal stories, energies at play currently in the world and more. If you ever needed another reason to prioritise stillness in your day and invite more meditation into your life - this is it. Enjoy the show as much as I enjoyed this conversation, and you can find the show notes over at lowtoxlife.com/podcast with the generous sponsor offer also. 181: Sage Magdalene: Deeper conversations with the natural world
It's hard to put into words the crux of what this show is all about because it's a way of thinking and being as new to me as it perhaps might be to you too. You're just going to have to trust me on this one that if you've experienced any discord in your life at all either through bad dreams, phobias or fighting with others or with yourself, it's a show that will offer many benefits to you. Have you ever considered having a conversation with a tree? A spider? A bee? All living beings are performing in ways that invite our curiosity, yet so rarely do we stop to contemplate them and in today's show I invite Animas Institute guide, Sage Magdalene to teach us how it's done. We also discuss the power of collage in piecing together emotions and challenges that you want to overcome, the power of the moon's cycles and overall how nature is inviting us all the time to deepen our connection to her and all of her beings. 180: Guy Lawrence: Living in the present moment
As our low tox mind mini-series continues on the show, this week Guy Lawrence is back. We focus on finding joy in the present moment and even though this was recorded a fraction before things blew up into the Covid19 storm we're in, it's perfect and useful to us especially at this time. Guy is a coach, speaker, wellness advocate and entrepreneur. He is the founder of Let It In. A program designed to help people bridge the gap between the life they live and the life they truly want to live using meditation and the language of neuroscience. With over 15 years in the health and fitness industry, Guy has explored many facets of health including what's deemed ‘alternative'. Through his explorations he has measured the effects on the body; from using meditation and neuroscience to create altered states of consciousness, shamanic rituals, cold exposure and breathwork to name a few. Guy's passion is demystifying the process and separating the woo woo from practical applications that help create transformation in one's life. I know you'll enjoy this show and find it both soothing and useful. Head to the lowtoxlife.com/podcast show notes to grab the extra resources Guy has provided for you! 179: Mental Health First Aid Tips with Pippa Baker
What do you do when your bridesmaid ends their life? This week's show, Pippa Baker processed her grief, and moved through it to the point where she asked herself: What can I do to help people before they get to the point where they feel they've no other option? How can we prevent this? Pippa is now a Principal Master Instructor with Mental Health First Aid Australia having run hundreds of workshops for people to navigate their own mental health challenges as well as be the supportive someone for others who are struggling. Today we discuss powerful lifestyle support for keeping a healthy mind as well as how to interact with people in your life who you think might not be letting on how they're struggling in life at the moment, and if you're someone struggling, how to start reaching out more and earlier and break the stigma. It's a highly practical show and I hope you find it as useful as I did. 176: The ins and outs of colonics with Zhenya Gerson
In this week's show as a part of our health series, we're talking to Zhenya Gerson about poop - specifically in the context of colonics and enema, with a practitioner who has multiple top doctors referring to her here in Sydney. There's a lot of fear and stigma around using colonics, so I thought I'd get the low down - and yes, everything seems to have a double entendre right now! We talk about colonics, when they're for, how often to get them, who shouldn't get them, whether kids can do them, the difference between colonics and enema and whether to source a place that allows you to be in the room alone or with a therapist guiding you. If you've been wondering about the benefits of colonics, this is one to listen to!
