Sickboy
CBC
Sickboy is the only place where terminal diagnoses can peacefully coexist with jokes we probably shouldn't make. Hosted by three best friends, Jeremie, Brian, and Taylor, this show smashes taboos around illness, death, and everything in between. Inspired by Jeremie’s life with Cystic Fibrosis, we dive headfirst into the uncomfortable, the hilarious, and the heartbreaking. We talk to people living with everything from chronic disease to catastrophic injury, mental health struggles to medical miracles - and we do it with radical empathy, zero BS, and the kind of unfiltered jokes that get us kicked out of support groups. If you’ve ever felt weird, broken, or like no one gets it, welcome. New episodes drop every Wednesday. Pull up a seat; it’s gonna get real.Follow Sickboy on Instagram & TikTok!

He Has Died. He Has Risen: David Maginley, M.Div
We’ve made it Sicko’s! EPISODE 100!?!?! Get ready to get spiritual af! What is life? What is consciousness? What is the soul? What is reality? This week we sit down with David Maginley, M.Div, an interfaith chaplain who offers guidance to those within palliative care. Wait, Sickboy mixed with religion?! Don’t worry there’s not much starch in this clergy man’s collar. He’s not interested in what you believe, he’s interested in the quality of your love. Oh and on top of all that, David has a rare form of cancer that expresses itself not unlike the critically acclaimed Jason Statham film ‘Crank’. A ticking cancer time bomb within his body that once went off and killed him. Yup… David died. But he has risen and sits down with the boys to spread some wisdom and blow some minds. Check out what David is up to and buy a copy of his latest book "Beyond Surviving" over at his website http://www.davidmaginley.com/

Host Episode w/ Just Chips Dot Com!
It’s not everyday you meet a couple of people and know immediately that you were meant to be besties, so we took full advantage when we met Zoe and Sophia, hosts of Just Chips Dot Com (the podcast, not the website) and invited them to join us for a host episode we would be recording while in TO. Most notably, we chatted about what our badass Rock n’ Roll death would be, and that went in a lot of interesting directions. Strap in, check it out & have fun.

No Colon Still Rollin': Hirschsprung's Disease
Stomas, ports, megacolons, no colons, and dogs. This weeks episode is all sorts of silly, disgusting, hilarious, and fascinating. Patrick, much like dog, has only one meter of small intestine. He has Hirschsprung's Disease, a form of megacolon. What is a megacolon? Exactly what it sounds like, a big ass colon. With no colon, a jajunostomy, a port and a useless asshole, Patrick lives a rather interesting life. Get ready for some silly.

Super Booger or Brain Tumour?
What happens when you have a tumour wrapped around your carotid artery? A whole wack load of life long lessons. We talk ultimate booger removal, jeremie’s transition from the IWK to the QEII adult clinic, the Canadian healthcare system VS American healthcare system, and a buttload more.

The Way We Grieve
This week on Sickboy the guys sit down with Jesse Hayman, Director of Development & Communications at Jack.org.
They dive deep into the world of grief; what is the difference between mental health & mental illness? is there a right way to grieve? and what is the most practical way to circumcise a baby? Okay, maybe that last one is a bit of a stretch…
Jesse’s ability to be vulnerable about his experience with grief is empowering and, with his colleagues at Jack.org, he is changing the way we think about mental health.
