The Curve
The Curve Platform
The Curve is a platform to learn more about money. To change the stereotype that these conversations are typically boring, and only for men in suits. Victoria has worked in the finance and investing world for 13 years, and Sophie is a total novice. Learn alongside her as she asks all the questions you're thinking, but might feel a little embarrassed to ask. This podcast will give you all the tools and knowledge to achieve financial freedom, as well as (hopefully) having a laugh along the way.

How a Money Diary Can Make You Wealthier & Wiser, with Frances Cook (from the archives).
Blast from the past alert! We’re dusting off an oldie (but a very, very goodie) with the legendary Frances Cook – finance journalist, author, and NZ’s OG money podcaster. In this episode, we dive into the magic of keeping a money diary (it’s a game-changer, trust us), break down the whole good debt vs. bad debt debate (spoiler: your wardrobe might not be an "investment"), and unpack the satellite approach to investing – aka the strategy that lets you have your financial veggies and a little dessert. Plus, Frances spills on her best and worst investments (ahem, crypto-adjacent oopsie), and we debate whether giving up oat milk lattes will actually fix your financial future (spoiler: nope). If you’re a beginner investor or just need a refresher on the fundamentals, this one’s for you.Join The Curve Investing Club - a community of women learning, growing, and building wealth together. Pepsi, Poppi & The Tequila Tariff Saga.
A quick note: we do touch on pregnancy and miscarriage in the first part of the episode. If that’s not something you’re up for today, feel free to skip to 12:16, where we dive into the finance chat. <3With Vic off skiing in Japan (and taking a well-deserved break from Sophie’s market rants), we’ve recruited a temporary co-host from The Curve community - and she’s a total star. Meet Rachel, a finance-savvy marketer (and brand-new mum!) who’s bringing the research and the hot takes. And oh boy, is there a lot to cover. Trump’s tariffs are wreaking havoc (yes, tequila and Tesla took a hit), the stock market just had its worst day since 2022, and investors are looking at Europe for some stability amid the U.S. chaos. Plus, the luxury shake-up continues - Prada might be making moves on Versace, and Pepsi is betting big on the next drinks trend (spoiler: it’s not tequila).Pour yourself something functional and let’s dive in…Members of The Curve Community can get a $10 boost to kickstart your investing journey with Tempo! Why Prada Is Thriving, Tariffs Are Tanking, & The Market’s Having A Meltdown.
This week, we’re unpacking the economic drama that’s making headlines - because, honestly, the stock market has been messier than a bad spray tan. We’re talking tariffs, and why new trade barriers between the US, Canada, Mexico, and China have investors sweating. Plus, Prada is thriving while other luxury brands struggle (Miu Miu, we see you), and we’ve got an update on TikTok’s fate - spoiler: Serena Williams' husband is involved. And if you’re still on the fence about investing, we break down why now is the time to get started (yes, even if the market looks rocky). The Forsyth Barr Funds are issued by Forsyth Barr Investment Management Limited. Investment Property vs. First Home.
Sophie’s got big news (no, not a baby - though the social media post might’ve fooled you). She’s officially pre-approved for a mortgage! 🎉 But what does that actually mean? In this episode, Soph and Vic dive into the wild world of property investing, the difference between buying a home vs. an investment property, and why NZ’s housing market is such a beast. Plus, they break down the power of leverage (a.k.a. making money on money you didn’t have to begin with) and whether buying a house is really the best way to build wealth, or should you be looking at the stock market instead? Whether you're dreaming of a house deposit or wondering if ETFs are the better play, this ep is packed with everything you need to know about growing your money. This episode is proudly sponsored by Trade Me Property, New Zealand’s largest property marketplace. The Curve’s Biggest Opportunity Yet.
No proper episode this week because… we’re working on something BIG. Like, Stephen Bartlett-watching-our-trailer big. Yep, you read that right. We’ve been given the incredible opportunity to pitch The Curve to Flight Studio - the trailblazing studio behind Diary of a CEO - and let’s just say, we are not taking this lightly. This opportunity means everything, and we want to get it right. So, no proper episode this week while we focus on making it the best it can be. I also just want to say a massive thank you - every follow, share, and listen has brought us to this point. We’ll be back soon with regular episodes.
