The Big Story Ep 93: Non-mRNA vaccines to be allowed through private sector 3:13 mins Synopsis: This is a special episode of The Straits Times' video series The Big Story, hosted by Hairianto Diman and Olivia Quay. The Health Ministry said on Wednesday (June 2) that Sinovac's Covid-19 vaccine will be allowed under the Special Access Route. This follows the announcement by the World Health Organisation on Tuesday that it had approved the vaccine for use under its Emergency Use Listing. Meanwhile, on Monday, the Ministry of Health said that it would allow unregistered new Covid-19 vaccines through the private healthcare sector. Studies have also showed that heart disease is deadlier in women than men, and can affect women at all ages, and particularly after menopause.  In the Lancet Women and Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) Commission published in mid-May, clinicians called for urgent action to reduce burden of cardiovascular disease in women. The Big Story Ep 90: Tighter Covid protocols for Changi Airport workers, including risk-based segregation 8:03 mins Synopsis: This is a special episode of The Straits Times' video series The Big Story, hosted by Hairianto Diman and Olivia Quay. Changi Airport Group will segregate some 14,000 airport workers into three distinct zones, with strict measures to ensure the 4,400 workers in the highest-risk zone are protected from Covid-19 and isolated from other staff and the public. Other measures to reduce the risk of transmission, include testing workers in the highest-risk zone more frequently, only deploying younger and vaccinated workers in this zone as well as ensuring they wear the appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
