Stay here and watch with Me.” 39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” 40 Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? 41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” 42 Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father,]if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, your will be done.” 43 And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy. 44 So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. 45 Then He came to His disciples aSupport the showFollow and support me on Patreon.Jeremy McCandless | Creating Podcasts and Bible Study Resources | PatreonTo receive my weekly newsletter and keep up to date with all five of my podcasts, subscribe at:Jeremy McCandless | SubstackCheck out my other Podcasts. The Bible Project: https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.comHistory of the Christian Church: https://thehistoryofthechristianchurch.buzzsprout.comThe L.I.F.E. Matthew Ch 26 Vs 17-30 - Is There An Appropriate Way to Remember Christ (Episode 517)

Send us Fan MailHelp me to continue to make and share great Biblical content everyday and download my latest free Book at  | PatreonIs There an Appropriate Way to Remember Christ?17 Now on the first day of the Feast of the Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?” 18And He said, “Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is at hand; I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples.” ’ 19 So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover.  20 When evening had come, He sat down with the twelve. 21 Now as they were eating, He said, “Assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me.” 22 And they were exceedingly sorrowful, and each of them began to say to Him, “Lord, is it I?” 23 He answered and said, “He who dipped his hand with Me in the dish will betray Me. 24 The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.” 25 Then Judas, who was betraying Him, answered and said, “Rabbi, is it I?” He said to him, “You have said it.”  26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” 27 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 29 But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.” 30 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.  (Matthew 26: 26-30)Support the showFollow and support me on Patreon.Jeremy McCandless | Creating Podcasts and Bible Study Resources | PatreonTo receive my weekly newsletter and keep up to date with all five of my podcasts, subscribe at:Jeremy McCandless | SubstackCheck out my other Podcasts. The Bible Project: https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.comHistory of the Christian Church: https://thehistoryofthechristianchurch.buzzsprout.comThe L.I.F.E. For she has done a good work for Me. 11 For you have the poor with you always, but Me you do not have always. 12 For in pouring this fragrant oil on My body, she did it for My burial. 13 Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.”  (Matthew 26: 6-13)Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus14 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests 15 and said, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?” And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver. 16 So from that time he sought opportunity to betray Him.  (Matthew 26: 14-16)Support the showFollow and support me on Patreon.Jeremy McCandless | Creating Podcasts and Bible Study Resources | PatreonTo receive my weekly newsletter and keep up to date with all five of my podcasts, subscribe at:Jeremy McCandless | SubstackCheck out my other Podcasts. The Bible Project: https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.comHistory of the Christian Church: https://thehistoryofthechristianchurch.buzzsprout.comThe L.I.F.E. Matthew Ch 25 Vs 31-46 - Are you a Sheep or a Goat (Episode 515)

Send us Fan MailHelp me to continue to make and share great Biblical content everyday and download my latest free Book at  | PatreonAre you a Sheep or a Goat? (Matthew 25:31-46) The black sheep of the family, we all know what that means it’s the member of the family that just sort of wanders away or at least doesn’t conform to the rest of the family group. But what about a goat, do you know if you are a sheep or a goat, because that’s the spiritual division that God in Jesus appears to make in this passage. It seems to me that spiritually speaking there are some who will be designated goats in God’s family. Those that just seemed to wander away, or worse. If your heart is in tune with the heart of the father of Jesus the shepherd of the sheep, I should say you certainly don’t want to be a goat, so let me. ask a very simple question this morning. How can we avoid becoming identified as a goat  rather than a  sheep. I guess one of the answers to that is don’t wander away from the Lord. So, will staying close to the Lord automatically make you a white sheep or do you have to do something else as well. The answer to that is in this latter part of the Olivet discourse recorded in Matthew chapter 25. So, listen with me as I begin to read from Matthew chapter 25 where I’m going to begin reading with verse 31.The Son of Man Will Judge the Nations31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying,Support the showFollow and support me on Patreon.Jeremy McCandless | Creating Podcasts and Bible Study Resources | PatreonTo receive my weekly newsletter and keep up to date with all five of my podcasts, subscribe at:Jeremy McCandless | SubstackCheck out my other Podcasts. The Bible Project: https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.comHistory of the Christian Church: https://thehistoryofthechristianchurch.buzzsprout.comThe L.I.F.E. So, you also when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors! Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.  (Matthew 24: 32-35)No One Knows the Day or Hour“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Matthew Ch 24 Vs 1-31 - The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age (Episode 510)

Send us Fan MailHelp me to continue to make and share great Biblical content everyday.https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.comThe End Signs (Matthew 24:1-31) The Bible is full of prophecy, it predicts the end of the age, and tells us of the second coming of Jesus Christ. Well, if that is so wouldn’t it be helpful if it would also tell if there was a way we would know how all of that is approaching, are there signs of the end of the age. Well, it’s rather interesting that you would think that because none other than the disciples of Jesus Christ asked that very question and Jesus answered them. As a matter of fact, he took that opportunity to not only answer their question but to expand the discussion into a whole lengthy sermon on not only those event but on prophecy itself, and he did that on a place called The Mount of Olives. This is why this passage is commonly referred to as the Olivet Discourse’, and it recorded for us and Matthew chapter 24 and across into Matthew chapter 25.Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.” (Matthew 24: 1-4)The Signs of the Times and the End of the AgeNow as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. and then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. Matthew Ch 23 Vs 34-39 - The Patience of God (Episode 509)

Send us Fan MailHelp me to continue to make and share great Biblical content everyday.https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.comThe Patience of God (Matthew 23:34-39)If I were to ask you to list some of the characteristics of God, the attributes of God, what would you say. I suspect that most people might start the list with things like God is holy, or God is loving, or God is just, or God is merciful, and indeed all of those are correct and are in fact, they are direct quotes from scripture. But there are some other attributes that don’t get as much attention for example the scriptures also teaches that God of all things is patient. Who thought of that one, and what does that mean for us? Well today I want us to look at a passage that although it doesn’t mention the word patience it still illustrates the fact that God is indeed patient, immeasurably patient. There are also some other things illustrated in this passage about God, more than just his patience, and all these things I believe we will discover are extremely important to us as individuals. As a matter of fact, some of the principles in this passage could affect that decisions that you make even today and certainly ought to affect decisions you make throughout your life in the future. Therefore, indeed, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city, and upon you will come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. Assuredly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation. “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ”  (Matthew 23: 34-39)The main subject of this passage of scripture is actually the judgment of God. In the opening verses it talks about the fact that God has been patient in performing that judgement but then the Lord talks about the reason for tSupport the showFollow and support me on Patreon.Jeremy McCandless | Creating Podcasts and Bible Study Resources | PatreonTo receive my weekly newsletter and keep up to date with all five of my podcasts, subscribe at:Jeremy McCandless | SubstackCheck out my other Podcasts. The Bible Project: https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.comHistory of the Christian Church: https://thehistoryofthechristianchurch.buzzsprout.comThe L.I.F.E.
