In this episode, we delve into a passage from the Bible that may seem mundane at first glance but holds valuable insights. All scripture, including this passage, is profitable, as emphasized by the apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Although some sections may not initially captivate our attention, we should take seriously the notion that all scripture carries value and purpose.Exodus 36 begins with Moses calling Bezalel and Aholiab, along with other gifted artisans, to work on the construction of the Tabernacle. As we proceed through the chapter, we witness the construction of the Tabernacle itself. Throughout this chapter, we are reminded of the importance of following God's instructions, just as the Israelites did. By doing what God tells us to do, we can experience immeasurable blessings. We should strive to win people to Christ, baptize them, and place them in a community of believers—a church—where they can grow in faith through the teaching of God's Word. It is crucial to recognize that faithfully engaging in God's work, both as individuals and as a church community, will lead to blessings beyond measure. We need not resort to manipulative tactics or pressures to receive contributions. Instead, by simply obeying God's instructions, we open ourselves to His abundant provision.Let us not underestimate the significance of our actions as believers. By faithfully following God's guidance, we can be conduits of blessings to others and participate in the establishment of His kingdom on Earth. May we embrace the call to make disciples, baptize them, and gather in communities of faith, trusting that God's blessings will surpass our wildest imaginations.Thank you for joining us in this episode as we explore the profound insights within Exodus 36. The question arises: How would the Lord raise funds to build a building? The Renewal of the Promise of God (Exodus 34: 1-35)

Send us Fan MailThis podcast is hosted at:https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.comHelp me to continue to make and share great Biblical content everyday by supporting my ministry at | PatreonEpisode Notes: The Renewal of the Promise of God (Exodus 34: 1-35) See Transcript for full Scripture Text. In today's episode, we will explore Exodus chapter 34. This chapter highlights an essential spiritual truth: while sin may break our fellowship with God, it does not sever our relationship with Him. We will examine how this truth is illustrated through the story of the children of Israel in the book of Exodus. In chapter 33, we witnessed the Israelites' sin of idolatry, which led to the loss of their fellowship with God. However, Moses remained faithful and maintained an intimate relationship with the Lord. Chapter 34 reveals more about what transpired after the Israelites' sin. Despite their disobedience, God remained merciful and faithful. This sets the stage for the renewal of the covenant depicted in this chapter, emphasizing that sin does not destroy our relationship with God.The episode emphasizes God's faithfulness and willingness to renew His promises, even in the face of human failures. It also reveals important insights into God's character and the attributes we should strive to emulate. Let us remember that righteousness without love is judgmental, and love without righteousness is sentimentality. By pursuing a balance of righteousness and love, we reflect the character of God and fulfill His purposes in our lives. We hope you find this exploration of Exodus chapter 34 enlightening and encouraging. Re-establishing Fellowship With God (Exodus 33: 1-23)

Send us Fan MailThis podacst is hosted at:https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.comHelp me to continue to make and share great Biblical content everyday by supporting my ministry at | PatreonWelcome to "Re-establishing Fellowship," the latest episode of, 'The Bible Project daily Podcast'. In this episode, we explore the consequences of sin and its impact on our relationship with the Lord, focusing on Exodus 33:1-23.Sin has far-reaching consequences, affecting not only us but also those around us. When we sin, it breaks fellowship with God, disrupting our intimate connection with Him. The story in Exodus 33 vividly illustrates the aftermath of the Israelites' worship of the golden calf in Exodus 32.After the incident with the golden calf, God tells Moses to lead the people to the promised land, but He will not go with them. This marks a revision in God's original plan, where He intended to dwell among the Israelites in the tabernacle. However, due to their sin, God refuses to accompany them on their journey to Canaan. In this passage, we witness the stark contrast between the strained relationship of the Israelites with God and the close fellowship Moses enjoys. While the people lost their intimate connection with the Lord, Moses continues to commune with Him face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. This passage reveals that sin disrupts fellowship with God but does not totally sever the relationship. The Israelites lost their intimate connection with the Lord, while Moses maintained it. Fellowship with God involves speaking to Him and receiving His truth, which is now conveyed through His Word.As we conclude this episode, let us remember the words of Philippians 4:6-7: "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."Thank you for joining us today, and may you seek to maintain a close relationship with the Lord, experiencing His peace and grace in your life.Support the showFollow and support me on Patreon.Jeremy McCandless | Creating Podcasts and Bible Study Resources | PatreonTo receive my weekly newsletter and keep up to date with all five of my podcasts, subscribe at:Jeremy McCandless | SubstackCheck out my other Podcasts. The Bible Project: https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.comHistory of the Christian Church: https://thehistoryofthechristianchurch.buzzsprout.comThe L.I.F.E. The Golden Calf Part 1 - When the Cats Away the Mice will Play (Exodus 32 1-14)

Today  we explore the famous saying, "When the cat is away, the mice will come out to play," and its relevance to a story from the Old Testament. The saying reflects the idea that when those in authority are absent, subordinates tend to indulge in unruly behavior and break the rules. We witness this principle in action in the story of the Golden Calf from Exodus. Moses had ascended Mount Sinai to receive instructions from the Lord, leaving the Israelites waiting for his return.Impatient and uncertain of Moses' fate, the Israelites decided to take matters into their own hands. They approached Aaron, Moses' brother and one of the leaders of Israel, with a request to make gods to go before them. Aaron, surprisingly, agreed to their request and fashioned a golden calf from the people's earrings. The Israelites then engaged in sacrificial offerings, feasting, and revelry, signifying their departure from the true worship of God. Aaron's actions mimicked the covenant affirmation ceremonies conducted by Moses, but they were contrary to God's will. The calf represented the Lord on their terms, allowing them to worship according to their desires.God, observing the Israelites' idolatry and their departure from His commandments, expressed His anger. He told Moses that he intended to consume them in His wrath. But Moses pleaded with the Lord, presenting three arguments: the people were God's chosen ones, destroying them would tarnish God's reputation, and it would violate God's promise to multiply the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. In response to Moses' intercession, God relented and changed His mind, sparing the Israelites from destruction. This showcases the flexibility within God's plan and the impact of prayer and repentance on His decisions.Join us Support the showFollow and support me on Patreon.Jeremy McCandless | Creating Podcasts and Bible Study Resources | PatreonTo receive my weekly newsletter and keep up to date with all five of my podcasts, subscribe at:Jeremy McCandless | SubstackCheck out my other Podcasts. The Bible Project: https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.comHistory of the Christian Church: https://thehistoryofthechristianchurch.buzzsprout.comThe L.I.F.E. Should We Observe the Sabbath Laws (Exodus 31.12-18)

Send us Fan MailThis podacst is hosted at:https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.comHelp me to continue to make and share great Biblical content everyday by supporting my ministry at | PatreonShould We Observe the Sabbath Laws (Exodus 31.12-18)Welcome to this episode of our podcast, where we will be exploring the topic of observing the Sabbath laws based on Exodus 31:12-18. This passage raises important questions about whether believers in Jesus Christ should continue to observe the Sabbath maybe even worshiping on Saturdays instead of Sundays. In Exodus 31, Moses is on Mount Sinai receiving instructions from the Lord. The passage begins by emphasizing the significance of the Sabbath as a sign between God and the people of Israel. It symbolizes their unique relationship with Him and their separation from other nations. Observing the Sabbath was considered crucial to Israel's spirituality, and failure to do so could result in severe consequences, including death. The Sabbath, along with other covenants in the Bible, serves as a sign of God's covenant relationship with His people. The Noahic covenant had the sign of the rainbow, the Abrahamic covenant had circumcision, and the Mosaic covenant had the Sabbath. The New Covenant, which believers in Jesus Christ are under, is marked by the sign of the Lord's Supper or communion. So, should believers in Jesus Christ observe the Sabbath? The New Testament provides insight into this question. In Romans 14:5-6, Paul encourages believers to honour the day they consider holy to the Lord, recognizing that some may observe certain days while others do not. Furthermore, the apostle Paul emphasizes in Colossians 2:16-17 that the Sabbath was a shadow of things to come, and the substance is found in Christ.Ultimately, the Sabbath carries deep symbolic and historical significance, but it is important to understand its fulfilment in Jesus Christ. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus brought a new covenant, and believers are called to rest in Him and find their Sabbath rest in His finished work.As we explore this topic further, we will consider the implications  in light of the New Covenant and the teachings of Jesus and the early church. How to Serve God with you Gifts and Talents. (Exodus 31:1-11)

In today's episode, we will discuss the topic of serving the Lord with our gifts and talents, focusing on Exodus 31:1-11. Often, when we think about serving the Lord, we associate it with individuals who possess special spiritual gifts like teaching, preaching, or evangelism. However, this passage sheds light on the talents and gifts necessary to serve the Lord effectively.Todays passage and study will hopefully demonstrates that the filling of the Holy Spirit was a sovereign act of God for a specific service in the Old Testament but in the examples of John the Baptist, Elizabeth, and Zacharias in the Gospel of Luke illustrate this connection between the filling of the Spirit and prophetic utterances.  In the Book of Acts, the crowd on the day of Pentecost and Peter are also mentioned as being filled with the Spirit, leading to the proclamation of God's message. To serve the Lord effectively, we need two things: a basic talent or natural ability and the filling of the Holy Spirit. While spiritual gifts, as described in the New Testament, are supernatural abilities for spiritual functions, talents are ordinary skills that can be empowered by the Holy Spirit to serve the Lord. Our occupations and talents can be utilized in service to God when they contribute to the well-being of others or society.Serving the Lord with our gifts and talents is not limited to those with extraordinary spiritual abilities. God calls individuals with various natural talents and skills to fulfil His purposes. By aligning our talents with God's will and seeking the filling of the Holy Spirit, we can effectively serve the Lord and impact others through our work.Remember, whatever you do, do it heartily as unto the Lord. In today's episode, we will explore the passage in Exodus 29:1-37, which focuses on the consecration and daily offerings of the priests. Although this passage is originally addressed to a specific group of people, it still carries important lessons for us today. To provide some context, this passage describes the ordination ceremony for the priests, and it emphasizes the significance of their consecration. God's detailed instructions and the recording of this ceremony by Moses indicate its importance for Israel and its instructional value for us.The chapter can be divided into three parts: preparation, procedure, and provisions. Firstly, let's delve into the preparation phase outlined in verses 1-9. The second part, the procedure, begins in verse 10 and extends to verse 28. The final part of the chapter, verses 29-37, addresses the provisions for the priests. These provisions solidified their status as the chosen line of priests, with the priesthood being a perpetual statute for Aaron and his descendants.Through this passage, we can draw valuable lessons. Firstly, the significance of consecration and dedication to God's service is highlighted. The meticulous attention to detail in this ceremony emphasizes the importance of being set apart for God's work. Secondly, the various offerings represent the need for cleansing from sin and the commitment to live a life devoted to God. Lastly, the consecration of the priests demonstrates the need for wholehearted commitment in every aspect of our lives, such as hearing God's word, performing acts of service, and living in obedience to His commands. As we reflect on this passage, we can apply these principles to our lives. Just as the priests were consecrated and dedicated to their service, we are called to consecrate ourselves to God and commit.Support the showFollow and support me on Patreon.Jeremy McCandless | Creating Podcasts and Bible Study Resources | PatreonTo receive my weekly newsletter and keep up to date with all five of my podcasts, subscribe at:Jeremy McCandless | SubstackCheck out my other Podcasts. The Bible Project: https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.comHistory of the Christian Church: https://thehistoryofthechristianchurch.buzzsprout.comThe L.I.F.E.
