Think about this show as your personalized navigation tool for fertility and IVF, as Dr. Aimee shares the five things you need to know before, during, and after IVF to support yourself. 1. Be clear on why you're considering IVF. Why are you doing IVF? 2. Realize your relationships may change. This is something I ask my patients to think about before, during, and after IVF. 3. Develop a plan for unused embryos. When you're going through IVF this is likely the last thing you want to think or talk about. 4. Know that pregnancy isn't always easy. Developing a support system is important during IVF and fertility treatment. 5. Understand that your feelings may linger. Dr. Geoffrey Sher is joining me again, and this time we are going to talk about implantation failure during IVF. Dr. Sher is co-founder of Sher Fertility Solutions (SFS) and an internationally renowned expert in the field of assisted reproductive technology, and influential in the births of more than 17,000 IVF babies. One day I hope that I'll be able to say the same thing about myself. Over the last 30 years, he has helped fashion the entire field of ART after training under the fathers of IVF, Dr. Patrick Steptoe and Robert Edwards. He established the first private IVF program in the United States in 1982, then later expanded his practice to include several centers throughout California before founding the first Sher Fertility Solutions in Las Vegas. He's also the author of several books, In Vitro Fertilization: The ART of Making Babies, which is now in its third edition. In this episode, we're talking about implantation failure during IVF. Many times I wonder why embryos do not stick and grow. Dr. Sher is discussing the role of the endometrium, the difference between implantation and miscarriage, and the three factors he considers when advising on treatment for implantation failure. Meaghan Doyle is the owner and genetic counselor at DNAide Genetic Counselling. She specializes in infertility, preimplantation genetic testing, and preconception genetic counselling. After seeing patients who came from other clinics where access to a genetic counsellor was not available, she saw the negative impact this had on their care. I use Depot Lupron in my practice quite a bit for patients who have implantation issues, mostly related to endometriosis. We can also use it for women who have fibroid uterus, adenomyosis, as well. Struggling with fertility is not easy. It's important to stay positive. For example, I like to think of you being IN-fertile. As in you're "in" the club vs. infertile meaning you're "not" fertile. Call me crazy, but I truly believe in the fertility of everyone who walks through my door. Nobody is a number or FSH or AMH level. What do those things even mean? That's what I want to talk to you today. 💙Do your best best to find a positive mental attitude.💙Be proactive about your preconception tests. You can find a full list of the ones to consider on my website.💙Understand egg count, egg health, egg aging, and what you can do about it. 💙Get your TUSHY checked. 💙Understand the role of sperm and sperm health in embryo creation. 💙Once you have a embryos, consider additional tests before embryo transfer.
