Next Best Adaptation - "Beautiful Boy" By David Sheff
THIS IS A PREVIEW PODCAST. NOT THE FULL EPISODE. Please check out the full episode on our Patreon Page by subscribing over at - www.patreon.com/NextBestPictureEarlier this year, we put up a poll for you all to select sources of material that could be potential contenders for Best Adapted Screenplay this year. The top 3 choices were Boy Erased (previously reviewed), First Man (upcoming) and now our latest review of "Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey Through His Son's Addiction" by David Sheff. These are all going to have their source material examined by us on the show with an in depth discussion into the work's themes, characters and our predictions as to how it will all translate to the screen. For the second episode of Next Best Adaptation myself, Kt Schaefer, Nicole Ackman and Dan Bayer all read David Sheff's story "Beautiful Boy" which will premiere at TIFF in a few days and be released by Amazon Studios on October 12th. The adaptation is being directed by Felix Van Groeningen ("The Broken Circle Breakdown") who also co-wrote the adaptation with Luke Davies ("Lion") and stars Steve Carell and Timothee Chalamet as David Sheff and his son Nic Sheff respectively.Check out more on NextBestPicture.comPlease subscribe on...SoundCloud - @nextbestpicturepodcastiTunes Podcasts - itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/negs-…d1087678387?mt=2And be sure to help support us on Patreon for as little as $1 a month at www.patreon.com/NextBestPicture Learn more about your ad choices. Interview With The Writer/Director Of "We The Animals," Jeremiah Zagar
"We The Animals" is one of the most visually inventive and breathtaking independent features of the year. All of this was accomplished under the watchful eye of writer/director Jeremiah Zagar. After spending years making documentaries and short films, Zagar's feature narrative debut premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to critical acclaim and is now opening in theaters in limited release on August 17th from The Orchard. Jeremiah was kind enough to give us a few minutes of his time to talk about the making of his new film.Check out more on NextBestPicture.comPlease subscribe on...SoundCloud - @nextbestpicturepodcastiTunes Podcasts - itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/negs-…d1087678387?mt=2And be sure to help support us on Patreon for as little as $1 a month at www.patreon.com/NextBestPicture Learn more about your ad choices. Interview With The Writers Of "BlacKkKlansman," Charlie Wachtel & David Rabinowitz
After debuting at this year's Cannes Film Festival to high acclaim, Spike Lee's latest film "BlacKkKlansman" is now finally playing in theaters. It's definitely his strongest work in awhile and to take us a bit behind the scenes at how the incredible true life story of Ron Stallworth came to the screen, writers Charlie Wachtel & David Rabinowitz were kind enough to lend me some of their time to talk about the process of writing the film.Check out more on NextBestPicture.comPlease subscribe on...SoundCloud - @nextbestpicturepodcastiTunes Podcasts - itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/negs-…d1087678387?mt=2And be sure to help support us on Patreon for as little as $1 a month at www.patreon.com/NextBestPicture Learn more about your ad choices. Episode 103 - Our Reactions To The Academy's Changes, Including Best Popular Film & More
Episode 103 is probably the most important episode we have ever recorded. History was made on August 8th 2018 when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences introduced three major new changes which rocked the industry. After years of making suggestions on what changes we would like to see The Academy introduce, none of the changes they actually announced pleased us one bit. Here to discuss all of this is Michael Schwartz, Ryan C. Showers, Celia Schlekewey, Kt Schaefer, Josh Parham & Jacey Aldredge as we try to answer your questions and ask some of our own regarding the recent decisions by AMPAS. The search for the Next Best Picture just got more complicated.Check out more on NextBestPicture.comPlease subscribe on...SoundCloud - @nextbestpicturepodcastiTunes Podcasts - itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/negs-…d1087678387?mt=2And be sure to help support us on Patreon for as little as $1 a month at www.patreon.com/NextBestPicture Learn more about your ad choices.
