Interviews With The Production Designer & Cinematographer For "The Green Knight"
There's no denying that David Lowery's A24 fantasy epic "The Green Knight" is one of the most visually stunning achievements of 2021. Every design element had to be meticulously planned, constructed, and executed to bring the Arthurian legend to the screen. Two of the people most instrumental in that process were Production Designer Jade Healy and Cinematographer Andrew Droz Palermo. Both were kind enough to spend a few moments with me discussing their work on the film, their collaborations with Lowery, and what they have coming up next. If you've seen the film, you know this is a conversation worth listening to! Enjoy!Check out more on NextBestPicture.comPlease subscribe on...SoundCloud - https://soundcloud.com/nextbestpicturepodcastiTunes Podcasts - https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/negs-best-film-podcast/id1087678387?mt=2Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/7IMIzpYehTqeUa1d9EC4jTAnd be sure to help support us on Patreon for as little as $1 a month at https://www.patreon.com/NextBestPicture Learn more about your ad choices. "The Green Knight"
This week, Sara Clements, Casey Lee Clark & Dan Bayer join me for our second podcast review of the newest film from filmmaker David Lowery, "The Green Knight," starring Dev Patel, Alicia Vikander, Joel Edgerton & Sean Harris. The fantasy epic has divided audiences and united critics with its meditative and beautiful approach to the Arthurian poem it is based on. Filled with symbolism and no easy answers to its challenging questions about its themes, we have many interpretations of this new work of art from Lowery. As a result, this is a spoiler-filled discussion, so please don't listen if you have not already seen the movie. What did we think of the story, the craftsmanship, performances, and the many themes the film is working with? Tune in below to listen to us help each other sort our thoughts, and enjoy!Check out more on NextBestPicture.comPlease subscribe on...SoundCloud - https://soundcloud.com/nextbestpicturepodcastiTunes Podcasts - https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/negs-best-film-podcast/id1087678387?mt=2Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/7IMIzpYehTqeUa1d9EC4jTAnd be sure to help support us on Patreon for as little as $1 a month at https://www.patreon.com/NextBestPicture Learn more about your ad choices. "Jungle Cruise"
This week, Nicole Ackman, Josh Parham & Dan Bayer join me for our main podcast review of the newest Disney film, "Jungle Cruise" starring Dwayne Johnson & Emily Blunt. Based on the Disney theme park ride of the same name, the film is borrowing many elements from "Pirates Of The Caribbean," "The Mummy," "The African Queen," and many others to craft a new action-adventure franchise. Does it sink or swim? Tune in below to find out what we thought of the story, characters, visual effects, and of course, the many puns from Captain Frank Wolff. Interview With "Nine Days" Director/Writer, Edson Oda
Writer and director Edson Oda's "Nine Days" had its world premiere what feels like forever ago at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. After numerous release delays, the Independent Spirit Award nominee is now playing in theaters from Sony Pictures Classics and will be expanding to more theaters on August 6th. Edson was kind enough to spend some time talking with us about the origins of the film's unique concept, working with Winston Duke, his belief in pre-existence, and more! It's a fascinating interview for one of the most equally fascinating films of the year. Do not miss this one!
