Following the success of the 2019 film "Downton Abbey," the cast returned for a sequel, penned once again by series creator Julian Fellowes, titled "Downton Abbey: A New Era," which was just released in theaters this weekend. It's a welcome return to a cast of characters we know and love so well by this point that any time we spend with them is truly a gift. Actors Laura Carmichael and Allen Leech see it that way as well, as they reprise their roles as Lady Edith and Tom Branson. "Emergency" had its world premiere at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, where it received positive reviews for its writing, blend of drama with dark humor, and performances from RJ Cyler, Donald Elise Watkins & Sebastian Chacon. "On The Count Of Three" had its world premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival, where a lot of people were wondering who would be daring enough to pick up the film, which dealt with a highly sensitive subject matter, blending dark comedy with the heartwarming drama between two best friends who make a pact to kill themselves on the same day. Screenwriters Ari Katcher and Ryan Welch had a difficult tight rope to walk when communicating the themes of their story and the humanity of their characters without rubbing audiences the wrong way. The overall positive critical reception to the film suggests they struck the balance just right. The two were kind enough to spend a few minutes talking with us about their work on the film, which is now playing in select theaters and available on digital from Annapurna & Orion Pictures.
