Interviews With "Honk For Jesus. Save Your Soul" Stars Regina Hall, Sterling K. Brown, and Producer/Director/Writer Adamma Ebo & Co-Producer Adanne Ebo
"Honk For Jesus. Save Your Soul" premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival, where it received good notices for Regina Hall and Sterling K. Brown's satirical performances as a husband and wife team running a modern-day evangelical church. The two of them were kind enough to spend a few minutes chatting with us, followed by another brief conversation with the film's director, writer, and producer, Adamma Ebo, and her co-producer (and sister) Adanne Ebo. We hope you take a listen down below and check out the film, now playing in theaters and streaming on Peacock from Focus Features. "Three Thousand Years Of Longing"
For this week's main podcast review, I am joined by Amy Smith, Josh Parham & Daniel Howat. Together, we're reviewing the latest film from director George Miller, "Three Thousand Years Of Longing," starring Tilda Swinton & Idris Elba. The film premiered out of competition at this year's Cannes Film Festival and is following up the biggest success of his career with the critically acclaimed and Oscar-winning "Mad Max: Fury Road." It's the kind of film a filmmaker as visionary as Miller could only make after the success of his previous film because it's one hell of a big swing, filled with fantastical imagery and lots of flashbacks in a sprawling love story commenting on the nature of storytelling. What did we think of the story, performances, and technical aspects? Tune in below to find out. Thank you, and enjoy!Check out more on NextBestPicture.comPlease subscribe on...SoundCloud - https://soundcloud.com/nextbestpicturepodcastiTunes Podcasts - https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/negs-best-film-podcast/id1087678387?mt=2Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/7IMIzpYehTqeUa1d9EC4jTAnd be sure to help support us on Patreon for as little as $1 a month at https://www.patreon.com/NextBestPicture Learn more about your ad choices. Interview With "Breaking" Director & Writer, Abi Damaris Corbin
"Breaking" premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival, where it received strong notices for the performances by the cast, John Bodega, Nicole Beharie, and the late Michael K. Williams. Director Abi Damaris Corbin and her co-writer, Kwame Kwei-Armah, sought to tell the tragic true story of former veteran Brian Brown-Easley and looked at many other tension-filled, single-location thrillers to capture the anxiety and drama of such a high-stake situation. Abi was kind enough to spend some time talking about what drew her to the story, working with the cast, her inspirations, and what she took away from the experience of making her first feature-length film. We hope you take a listen down below and check out the film, now playing in theaters from Bleecker Street. The Next Best Series Podcast - Interview With Emmy-Nominated "The Dropout" Director, Francesca Gregorini
"The Dropout" was one of the most talked-about shows of the year with its mesmerizing, transformative performance from Amanda Seyfried in the lead role of Elizabeth Holmes. One of the standout episodes from the show was episode 6, "Iron Sisters." The director of that episode, Francesca Gregorini, is nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie at the year's Primetime Emmy awards, making her the only female nominated in the category. She was kind enough to spend a few minutes talking with us about her episode, working with Seyfried, how she feels about her Emmy nomination, and of course, what's to come next for her in the future. We hope you enjoy the conversation. Together, we're reviewing the latest film from director Baltasar Kormákur, "Beast," starring Idris Elba, Iyana Halley, Leah Sava Jeffries & Sharlto Copley. In what will forever be known as "that movie where Idris Elba punches a lion in the face," does the popcorn man vs. beast action film rise above its b-movie thrills to deliver anything of substance? Or does it not need to? Tune in below to find out as we discuss the story, performances, writing, and bloody lion action. The Next Best Series Podcast - Interview With Emmy-Nominated "Succession" Composer, Nicholas Britell
The music of "Succession" has become one of the most iconic in modern television. Having already won an Emmy for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music for the first season, composer Nicholas Britell is nominated this year for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score) for the third season (he was also previously nominated for season two). Having exploded in popularity in recent years due to his frequent collaborations with Barry Jenkins, Adam McKay, and now with the success of "Succession" (which has been nominated for and already won a ton of Emmys), Britell is one of the most sought after composers working in television and film today. He was kind enough to take a few moments from his busy schedule to discuss his work on his nominated episode "Chiantishire," what his thought process is behind the show's most iconic themes and how he develops them, what he plans for the show's fourth season and much more! Please take a listen down below and enjoy!
