Pelvic Exams - I know I know, your favorite topic!
Okay, I get it. Who wants to listen to a podcast about pelvic exams? You! Why? Because they are so important in the workup of pelvic pain and sexual health concerns! You will learn how I think about pelvic exams and how my exams are different than your "average" pap smear exams. I did the best I could to keep this one short and sweet! Reasons that you need a pelvic exam with sexual dysfunction
How you can “see” estrogen status with a pelvic exam.
Clitoral phimosis is a thing! This can decrease orgasms.
The dry posterior vulva! Oh my!
CT scans and MRI can’t usually “see” pain.
Pelvic floor muscles - you can’t see them but you can feel them on exam and if you reproduce the pain we have found a reason for pain.
Reasons for pain during sex (dyspareunia) can be found on a pelvic exam.
