2256: Cadence now funded to first production following off-take deal

Cadence Minerals #KDNC has executed on a US$4.6 million off-take deal in regard to its Amapa iron ore project in Brazil. The deal provides funding to bring the old Azteca plant back into production, and in fairly short order. The bulk of the money will be provided by the off-taker, with a smaller portion provided by Cadence, money that was already in place following a financing earlier this year. Cadence chief executive Kiran Morzaria joins Vox to give us more detail, and to talk about the longer-term objective of full-scale development of Amapa, which is now one step closer.

2249: Metals One goes big in South African gold and power

Metals One #MET1 is investing US$1.8 million in Lions Bay Resources via a convertible loan note, payable in two tranches. Lions Bay owns a sizeable plant in South Africa which can be used to supply power and steam to nearby customers. The plan, though, is to build in a roasting facility that will allow the plant to treat refractory gold ore from waste dumps, and build up a significant production profile. Pan African Resources is a well-established gold miner with long-standing assets in South Africa and a growing presence in Australia. The company was built around the Barberton gold mine in Mpumpalanga, which first began operating in the nineteenth century. During the past couple of decades Pan African has significantly added to its portfolio, bringing on new mines as well as earnings-accretive tailings projects.
