Remember The Game? Retro Gaming Podcast
Adam Blank
Comedian Adam Blank hosts "Remember The Game?", a retro gaming podcast. Each week, Adam and his guest will select a video game that they grew up playing, and spend time reminiscing about what they loved (or hated) about it. Not intended to be a history lesson, "Remember The Game?" is more like a conversation you'd overhear on the playground as a kid. The discussions are all over the place, and are guaranteed to fill you with that warm, nostalgic feeling. (Or rage, like you felt with the underwater level in the original Ninja Turtles game). Either way, it's gonna be fun! New episodes every Wednesday!

Patreon.com/RememberTheGame And you can find Stuttering Craig and the Side Scrollers Podcast at: Youtube.com/@SideScrollersPodcastTwitch.tv/StutteringCraig They record LIVE Monday - Friday at 11am Central! Remember ScrewAttack.com? If you grew up watching gaming content in the mid 2000's - 2010's, it's almost a lock that you watched some of their stuff. Top 10's, Death Battles, Video Game Vault, they were THE premier source for gaming content back in the day. And as a founder of ScrewAttack, Stuttering Craig was there right from the start. They got HUGE! Then Craig left. What the hell happened? I'm very stoked to have the one and only Stuttering Craig on the show this week. We talked about the formation and rise of ScrewAttack, why he left, where he went, and why he's decided to come back to the world of gaming content creation with his show, the Side Scrollers Podcast. I know some of you have been asking for more interview episodes, and I think we nailed it this week. I hope you enjoy listening to Craig as much as I enjoyed talking to the guy. And before we start Stuttering, I HAVE to stumble through another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks if I still play any games just for fun, and not for the podcast. Have I ever been in a fight?? And if I go back and give little Adam 3 pieces of gaming advice, what would they be?? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features the 3 finalists from the most intense Patreon Poll we've ever held: Metroid II, Wario Land 3, and the Pokemon Trading Card Game! Learn more about your ad choices. Remember The Game? #242 - Banjo-Tooie

Subscriptions start at just $2/month, and 5% of our patreon income every month will be donated to our 24 hour Extra-Life charity stream at the end of the year! Patreon.com/RememberTheGame Back on Remember The Game? #81, Mark McCue and I reviewed Banjo-Kazooie. I'd never played it before, and when I was done with it, I said I thought it was better that Super Mario 64 (a statement I stand by today). We both agreed that we needed to get around to playing Banjo-Tooie, and then, like, 3 years passed. I knew we'd get to it eventually, but I wasn't sure when. And then a Patreon of the show by the name of Banjo (coincidence?) sponsored an episode, and said it's time. Play Banjo-Tooie. So I did. And hooooo boy, do I have a lot to say about it. It takes the formula of the original game, and expands on it in a massive way. Bigger levels, more puzzles, and a long-ass cutscene to start the thing off. It's definitely more ambitious than the first game. Is it better? You'll have to listen to find out. Show sponsor, Banjo, swings by to explain why this game is so damned near and dear to his heart. And then the Banjo to my Kazooie, Mark McCue himself, gives me a call and we take a deep dive into the fun, albeit somewhat controversial, Banjo-Tooie. And before we get jiggie (see what I did there?), I slap together another edition of the 'Remember The Game? Infamous Intro'! This week, someone asks how I feel about buying new games at full price. How excited am I about the TMNT: The Last Ronin game?? And how often do people complain about the Infamous Intro?? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 Rare (developed) Nintendo 64 games: Diddy Kong Racing, Perfect Dark, and Conker's Bad Fur Day. Learn more about your ad choices. Remember The Game? #241 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Radical Rescue

Patreon.com/RememberTheGame And you can check out Patrick's handywork at:https://linktr.ee/burgerfinger breakfastwizard.bigcartel.com Or on Instagram: @burgerfinger @discount.lion.safari @breakfastwizardtoys Two of my favourite things from my childhood are the GameBoy, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. But I never had a chance to combine them until last year, when the Cowabunga Collection dropped and I finally had access to the trilogy of Game Boy TMNT games. Admittedly, the first 2 are 'meh', but TMNT III: Radical Rescue? That's a special little game, and a true hidden gem on the GB. You start out playing as Michelangelo, and you have to proceed through a map, finding and rescuing Leo, Donnie, and Raph. Each of the turtles has a unique ability, and it makes the game into a metroidvania. As you find new turtles, their new abilities let you access new areas of the map. It's a little basic and small scale, but it doesn't mean it isn't a really rad idea. It's also tough as fuuuuck. My resident Game Boy guru, Patrick, gave me a call this week, and we talked about what is not only the best TMNT game on Nintendo's first handheld system, but one of the best TMNT games ever made. It's all about Radical Rescue this week! And before we get radical, I slap together another edition of the 'Remember The Game? Infamous Intro'! This week, someone asks what would happen if Nintendo, PlayStation or Xbox got bought up by a competing company? Why do I dislike Resident Evil 3? And what's my favourite handheld console of all-time? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! Remember The Game? #240 - The Legend of Dragoon

Twitter: @MemberTheGame Instagram: @MemberTheGame Twitch.tv/MemberTheGame Youtube.com/RememberTheGame And if you want access to hundreds of bonus (ad-free) podcasts, along with multiple new shows EVERY WEEK, consider showing us some love over at Patreon. Subscriptions start at just $2/month, and 5% of our patreon income every month will be donated to our 24 hour Extra-Life charity stream at the end of the year! Patreon.com/RememberTheGame It's one of our illustrious Patreon Poll winning episodes this week, and the winner in question is The Legend of Dragoon for the original PlayStation, which overcame 7 other JRPGs to get itself an episode of RTG. This one was tough for me, because I didn't play it growing up, so I don't have the rose coloured nostalgia shades we all wear when we look back at the games we grew up with. I also don't love the JRPG genre as a whole. That said, I might not have loved this game, but I see why so many do. I think I give it the "tough but fair" treatment, and while the cons didn't sit all that well with me, there's some definite pros here, too. My buddy Keegs DID grow up playing this one, and he's a pretty big fan. We spent over an hour talking about the funky combat, the awesome soundtrack, the weird-ass story, and everything in between. And before we fuck up another one of Albert's additions, I slap together another edition of the 'Remember The Game? Infamous Intro'! This week, someone writes in to defend soccer (football, whatever). If you could only play one, would you play all the games PRIOR to the PS2 era, or all the games after it?? And what do I want to see in Tears of the Kingdom? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 of the PSone's biggest RPGs: Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Suikoden II. Learn more about your ad choices. Remember The Game? #239 - The Tiger Woods PGA Tour Series

Subscriptions start at just $2/month, and 5% of our patreon income every month will be donated to our 24 hour Extra-Life charity stream at the end of the year! Patreon.com/RememberTheGame It's about damned time we showed the Tiger Woods games a little love. I'm not a huge fan of playing golf in real-life, but I LOVE golf video games. Arcade, simulation, I don't care. I love just about all of them. And the Tiger Woods PGA Tour games are as gold as a gold standard can get. I'm sure I'm far from the only one that's lost countless hours of my life to mashing the backspin button, reading putt previews, and listening to that heart beat, well, beat. It's so fucking intense! God, I love these games. As does my buddy Brad, who gave me a call to talk about why the Tiger Woods series is so special to so many people. This was a really fun episode, albeit not quite as fun as playing the games. Hope ya like it! And before we blame the controller for missing that putt, I slap together another edition of the 'Remember The Game? Infamous Intro'! This week, someone asks about my editing process. Will Nintendo ever move on from Mario & Zelda? And where do I buy most of my retro games? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! Remember The Game? #238 - Wonder Boy in Monster Land

Subscriptions start at just $2/month, and 5% of our patreon income every month will be donated to our 24 hour Extra-Life charity stream at the end of the year! Patreon.com/RememberTheGame For the first time in 238 episodes, we're talking about the Sega Master System. Admittedly, I've never played one before, and even in this case, I bought a modern port of one of its games. But it's time to show the SMS some love, and I gotta say, if Wonder Boy In Monster Land is any indication of what the Master System could do, I might have to look up some more of its classics down the road. If you've never played it, Wonder Boy is a mix of Adventure Island and Zelda II, for lack of a better combo. You're traveling from area to area, buying equipment and spells and talking to townspeople looking for tips on where to go, but while you're doing that, a timer is ticking away and taking your health with it. It's tough as balls, I couldn't finish it, but I also couldn't stop playing it. I have a thing for tour retro games, and Wonder Boy scratched me right where I itched. This episode is sponsored by long-time supporter and friend of the show, Mr. McG. He swings by to explain why he has so much love for the Boy of Wonder, and then my buddy Chris, a card-carrying Sega kid, gave me a call and helped me understand why Wonder Boy was so beloved back in the day. And before we die over and over, I slap together another edition of the 'Remember The Game? Infamous Intro'! This week, someone asks if I have any regrets about taking RTG and turning it from a hobby into a business. Why do I prefer digital games over physical? And are there any games I've kept playing, despite not loving the combat, just because the story was so good?? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 Master System Mainstays: Marble Madness, Golden Axe Warrior and Alex Kidd in Miracle World. Learn more about your ad choices. Remember The Game? #236 - DOOM 3

Subscriptions start at just $2/month, and 5% of our patreon income every month will be donated to our 24 hour Extra-Life charity stream at the end of the year! Patreon.com/RememberTheGame Doom 3 was a reimagining of the series back in 2004, but these days, it's kinda the "forgotten" Doom. People love the original Dooms, and Doom 2016 & Eternal reviewed really well (Eternal is phenomenal), but Doom 3 just gets left behind. It was a MASSIVE step forward back when it came out. The graphics were insane and it was legitimately terrifying. But it was also kinda basic, combat wise, and once the scares wore off it was a fairly standard shooter. Or at least, that's how I felt. Replaying it for the first time in almost twenty years her the past couple weeks, I feel the same way. I love the graphics, like the level design, got kinda bored of the combat, and fucking HATE the PDA system. This was one of our Stupid Sexy Sponsored episodes, so community member/hot dog Brandon is gonna pop by and tell me why he's such a Doom 3 junkie, and then I'm explain why I like this game, but don't think I can fall in love with it. And yeah, I rant about the PDAs. And before that, I slap together another edition of the 'Remember The Game? Infamous Intro'! This week, we talk about what could be in store for the Switch as it starts to enter its home-stretch. What should you say what someone tells you that video games are a waste of time? And why don't I like Diablo?? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 additional FPSs from 2004: Half-Life 2, Metroid Prime 2, and Halo 2. You couldn't beat this game as a kid. None of us could. But I still love it. And over the pandemic, I decided I was sick of driving around that stupid city level and not being able to find Splinter. So I figured this game out once and for all. I'm rolling solo for this week's podcast, and I want to get into some of the strategies I use for TMNT, talk about the parts that still fuck me up, and explain why I think this is not only one of the best Turtles games ever, but one of the best games on the NES. And before April supports us, I slap together another edition of the 'Remember The Game? Infamous Intro'! This week, I pick my favourite iteration of each of the four Turtles. What games on my backlog am I most looking forward to playing? And what would I rather give up: TMNT or The Simpsons? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too!
