Better Than Yesterday with Osher Günsberg
Osher Günsberg
With every new day comes the opportunity to grow. Hosted by Osher Günsberg - a best-selling author, podcaster, TV host, husband, dad, stepdad, electric mobility enthusiast and part-time climate worrier. This podcast is here to help make today better than yesterday. Since 2013, the show has set out to improve life for you and the people you love. Sometimes it’s authentic conversations. Sometimes we’ll unpack the news or hear how Osher deals with life as a sober person with a different brain. But you’ll always hear something you need to hear (and laugh while you do). Listen to feel less alone, build better habits and discover some solution-based approaches for when life gets tricky.

137: Justin Hamilton
Justin Hamilton is a stand-up comedian, writer, producer and generally wonderfully creative and funny man from Australia. He and I first met on a panel show called Good News Week in 2009. You can listen to his exceptional podcast "Can you Take this photo Please" and also hear him occasionally pop up on TOFOP with Will and Charlie which we talk about on this show too. This is a great chat because it speaks of the value of mentorship. The value of identifying a mentor and keeping that relationship going through life, but also in the other direction - of finding someone to mentor and realising the value that can bring you. Thanks for listening, if you like it tell Justin on twitter - if you really like it, tell a friend. Hosted on Acast. 136: Alice Fraser
Alice Fraser is a comedian, writer, and ex-lawyer from Australia. She's also host of the wonderfully cerebral podcast "Tea With Alice" which I'm happy to have been a guest on. We recorded both her show and mine on the same day, and if there's parts of this chat that don't make sense, perhaps go find the episode she and I did on her show to flesh things out. Alice has a very interesting story, a story about following what you believe in, finding your truth - and what monetary rewards balance against that truth or even the joy of that journey. 135: Janine Allis
Janine Allis is an Australian businesswoman and entrepreneur, CEO and founder of the incredibly successful Boost Juice franchises. She's also a Shark on Network Ten's Shark Tank which is on Wednesday nights. She's also a mother, an author, and has a story that you will not believe - which includes life working aboard David Bowie's private yacht. This story is brilliant because it's a triumph over what society expects from many people. That success is only open to those with a university degree. That one town just isn't big enough for some people. Janine came over to my place in Bondi a few weeks back and we had this conversation which I am sure you'll enjoy. If you like what you hear - let her know @janineboost on twitter - and if you really like what you hear, simply tell a friend about this show. Hosted on Acast. 134: Leeanne Enoch
The Honorable Leeanne Enoch is Minister for Innovation, Science and the Digital Economy and Minister for Small Business in the seat of Algester in QLD. In what is a massive deal for me and this very show - her wonderful staff reached out to me and asked if I could come and interview her. Considering the work she's doing and the story that she has to tell, I jumped at the chance. Leeanne is the first Aboriginal Australian Woman to be elected into the QLD Parliament, a woman who grew up On Country in North Stradbroke Island and then in Woodridge housing commission on the southern fringes of Brisbane. Her story at points moved me to tears, and I'm sure it will do the same to you. We speak about women in power, growing up on country, and what the economy of the future might look like. 133: Julie Stevanja
Julie Stevanja is co-founder and CEO of Stylerunner.com Again, her story is bloody inspirational. In particular what I love about her tale is not only the grit to keep going, and her ability to see a gap in the market - but how she knew and valued the power of her personal network so much that she relocated back to Australia to build the business, and now is running an internationally massive retail operation from an office in Alexandria in Sydney. A quick word about prep. You know me. I always prepare However on this day I rolled into the interview and realized I'd forgotten to put my SD card back into my recorder, and lost 15 minutes of interview time because I had to run across the street to Sun Studios which is the big fancy photography studio set up here in Sydney, buy an SD card, and then sprint back across the street. So apologies for the length of the show today - don't worry, I have put my spare SD card back into my podcast kit. Hosted on Acast. 132: Jane Lu
Jane Lu is the founder and CEO of mammoth fashion startup Showpo.com.She speaks about hearing the sounds of Tienanamen Square erupt when she was a child, moving to Australia and creating the life she loves. This is easily one of my favourites - because everyone loves a story of triumph. This episode is brought to you by the great supporters of this show who have pledged through Patreon.com/osher. For as little as $5 a month you'll have access to exclusive episodes and help make sure I can get a show to you each and every week. Hosted on Acast. 131: Craig Bruce
Craig Bruce is one of the most iconic names in the Australian Radio Industry. For over 20 years he worked for the company which is now Southern Cross Austereo - first as an announcer, then as assistant program director and eventually rose to the role of group content director - means he's in charge of everything and everyone you hear on air that isn't a commercial. His reputation for spotting and developing new talent is beyond par, most notably with his development and then anointing of Kyle Sandilands as the Sydney Breakfast Radio anchor in 2004. Craig had played an important role in my career as well - he was at the first station I ever worked at and then was a part of bringing me to SAFM for my breakout into daytime radio. He's got a new podcast which it available at radiogamechangers.com - where he speaks with those in the industry that have truly disrupted and changed how the business of radio works. Craig is the first person I called when I wanted to get back on the air in 2016 and played a huge role in getting me the gig at Hit105 Brisbane even though he had left the company by then. While I've known Craig for the better part of 22 years, I found out things about him in this conversation that I did not know, and I must thank him for his candour and openness to bring up those very personal moments in his life - as I believe that hearing his story might help someone listening right now who may have faced a similar situation. Thank you for being here. Enjoy Craig Bruce. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

130: Lola Berry
Lola Berry is often called "Australia's favourite Nutritionist". She's a nutritionist, author, blogger, speaker and advocate for happiness. She even wrote a book about happiness. And five other books. You can buy them everywhere. She's a woman who has inspired hundreds of thousands of people all around the world to be kinder and more caring to themselves through food and nourishment - not just of their bodies but of themselves as a whole. Lola has a beautiful, warm and glowing energy that swept into my home with a gift basket of vegan goodies under her arm and a smile that could make the clouds part. She smooshed my dog frankie and then we sat down for a frank, honest and wonderful conversation about taking risks, success, failure, food and persistence. A trigger warning at the top here. Sexual assault is a part of Lola's story and she talks about that today. If you're at all triggered about such a topic - I completely understand. When you hear us talking about it, flick forward about seven minutes and you'll arrive safe on the other side with us talking about smoothies. Find Lola everywhere on your phone with the handle @yummololaberry - her snapchat is pretty great, I recommend it. So enjoy a deep, honest and nourishing chat with the wonderful Lola Berry. 128: Zahlen Titcomb
Zahlen Titcomb is one of the founders of Five Ultimate and Bamboxers, both specialized apparel companies. You may not realize this - but the game of ultimate frisbee is played by more people worldwide than Rubgy Union and Lacrosse combined. That's a lot of people. It's a very special sport, there's no referees - the elite teams are all co-ed, there's a lot about it that's pretty magical. I met Zahlen in Amsterdam at THNK where we were classmates together. Oh and he also once snuck into North Korea. To play frisbee. It's a great story! Hosted on Acast.
