Back then, my wife Dr. Joy Fleming, and her mother, Grace Elasky, prayed that God would raise up a high school for Christy to attend when she reached 9th grade. Joy then recruited me to see if we could put one together. God wonderfully raised up a founding core group and we worked together to design and launch, just in time, Southwest Christian High School (swchs.org). From our opening class of 30 students the school has grown to 500+ students in what came to be labeled a "Discipleship Christian High School."And now God is leading us and a new team to grow the Tru316 Foundation to "true" the verse of Genesis 3:16 and related passages on women and men. Nobody else had volunteered to run for Student Body President at the seminary. They were all busy with their master's level studies. I was too but when I learned the four student officers would have a private lunch every Friday with the Dean, Dr. Kantzer, I signed up. What a mentor he was to us! Because of that, it turned out I was chosen to represent the school the next summer at the Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization! What an experience that was. 4,000 evangelists and ministry leaders from around the world. It blew out the walls of my limited world view.And because of that I learned of the first evangelical graduate seminary that was going to launched in French-speaking Africa. In my early years as a speaker in Youth Ministry I developed the bad habit of picking my ILLUSTRATIONS FIRST and burying the message of the passages that were assigned to me to speak on! It took me a year and a half in seminary to learn how to let the passage speak for itself! The relationship of believers is meant to be modeled after Christ's two actions referred to in Ephesians 5:25b. He loves and gives of himself.Paul uses these words in the SAME linchpin pattern used in Genesis 2 and 3 in Ephesians 5:25. He had the Garden of Eden very much in mind for he later quotes from Genesis 2:24. What these lookbacks to Eden mean in this passage helps us understand the parts that have puzzled many for so long!This passage is much like Handel's gloriously complex Hallelujah Chorus. as we study the literary patterns woven together from Ephesians 5:15 all the way to 6:9 we get clarity on Paul's great message of reciprocal care in the body with Christ!Go Deeper?
