Healing the City
The Village Church Community
So often, we find ourselves sitting next to people in church—people with fascinating stories and incredible expertise—and yet we miss the chance to truly know them. What if we slowed down and took the time to hear how each of us spends our days, how we wrestle with life, and how God is working in our stories?Join us as we journey into the lives of everyday folks from The Village Church here in Tucson, Arizona. These are people just like you, who are willing to open up and share their lives. Through honest conversations, we’ll tackle big ideas and practical ways to engage our communities, helping one another see what it looks like to live out our faith in tangible ways. We’ll explore topics like race, disability, advocacy, and faith, inviting guests to share their unique perspectives and skills. Together, we’ll look for ways to use what we’ve been given to connect, serve, and ultimately bring healing to our city.

Replay: Meditation: Advent Week Four 2020
Send us Fan MailAdvent usually falls between November 27 and December 25. The purpose of Advent is to prepare ourselves to celebrate Jesus’ birth, to spend time thinking about Jesus as our redeemer, and to find solace in the fact that God came to dwell with us and will make all things new in the end. The first week of Advent we focus on the prophecies of Jesus’ coming; the second week we remember Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem; the third week we consider the shepherds and remember that God sent His angels to announce His arrival to ordinary people who were on the low end of the social ladder; the fourth week we see the heavenly hosts proclaiming good news; and the fifth week we celebrate. All of this is done by lighting a candle each week to symbolize how Jesus’ birth brought light into the darkness, as recorded in John-1.Support the show“Healing the City” is a weekly podcast about what it looks like to build healthier communities. Meditation: Mary's Song
Send us Fan MailPastor Eric, Pastor Mark, and Pastor Rod read Mary's song from Luke 1:46-55 (niv)46 And Mary said:“My soul glorifies the Lord47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,48 for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed,49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is his name.50 His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation.51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble.53 He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty.54 He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful55 to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he promised our ancestors.”Support the show“Healing the City” is a weekly podcast about what it looks like to build healthier communities.
