095: You're Not Alone In Your Adversity w/ Michael Nova
Michael Nova from Rise Up Eight a non-profit platform designed to highlight the stories of those who never give up. Coming back from the brink of bankruptcy, near permanent blindness and a host of other challenges all at once that taught Michael that the "impossible" is achievable, and that gratitude is the most important thing. His experience changed how he looked at things and his unlikely recovery is what inspired him to share his story with the world in order to inspire others. Michael's inspiring story was recently featured on Entrepreneur.com. He has developed a proven track record of overseeing multiple businesses & creative projects simultaneously. As president of Nova Music Productions, Inc., Michael was previously featured in the New York Times as a pioneer in offering multiple services to independent artists in the music industry. Michael then created Nova Disc and Nova Custom Printing, divisions of the corporation that would focus on offering services to businesses exclusively. Over the years, Nova's clients grew to include NASA, MTV, BET, Google, L’Oreal, Halston, Palm Pictures, & The United Way, and many others. Because the business was doing well, Michael found a calling to give back to the community. He co-founded Metrofly, a non-profit organization that hosted fundraising events for charity. Body Awareness & Negative Thoughts
Since I've started doing yoga I became more aware of my body. It's similar to going to the gym and becoming aware of all of the muscles that you usually are not aware of. I've seen a pattern, in some situations whem my body is in a certain condition, it affects how I think and/or how I feel about everything I see, like the lens is changing. I call this body intelligence, and I think it's very useful and important for us to become aware of the links between our body, our thoughts and our emotions so that we can choose consciously where they lead us: thoughts -> emotions -> action -> results.
