The murder trial of former Clark County Public Administrator Robert Telles has begun. A jury of seven men and seven women has been selected. Telles, 47, is accused of stabbing investigative journalist Jeff German outside the reporter's home. German had written several explosive articles for the Las Vegas Review-Journal exposing bullying, harassment, and an inappropriate relationship within Telles' office. A suspect was caught on surveillance video walking to the home, wearing an orange shirt with reflective stripes, a straw hat, and carrying a duffel bag. Police say that on the morning of the incident, the suspect approached German's home, went to the side of the house, and shortly after, German emerged from the garage door, went to the side of the house, and was ultimately stabbed. Telles is facing four charges: murder with a deadly weapon, burglary of a motor vehicle, and two counts of destruction of evidence. New mom Mamta Bhatt, a pediatric nurse, doesn't show up for her regular shift at Prince William Hospital. Her absence is so out of character that her co-workers start reaching out to find out what's wrong. When they can't reach Mamta, hospital administrators contact the Manassas Park Police, urgently requesting a welfare check. The Manassas Park Police Department states that Mamta is missing under "involuntary circumstances" and that "this case is active and ongoing. When Stacy Hunsucker died, it was initially believed the mother of two had suffered a heart attack. She had a history of heart issues and used a pacemaker after being hospitalized following the birth of her second daughter. Just two days after her death, her husband, Joshua Hunsucker, began the process of filing for Stacy’s life insurance benefits and started a relationship with a co-worker less than a month after the funeral. Within six months, his new girlfriend moved into the family home. Stacy Hunsucker’s mother found the situation highly suspicious, as did the North Carolina Department of Insurance, which had paid out the life insurance. Joshua Hunsucker refused an autopsy for his wife, telling doctors he couldn’t bear the thought of her being cut open, and had Stacy’s body cremated. The NCDI later discovered that Stacy was an organ donor and that a vial of her blood had been stored. Tests on the blood revealed Stacy had a lethal amount of tetrahydrozoline, the active ingredient in eye drops, in her bloodstream at the time of her death. Once this was determined, the findings were turned over to the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office. Fifteen months after Stacy Hunsucker’s death, Joshua Hunsucker was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. While out on bail, Joshua Hunsucker rushed his 10-year-old daughter to the hospital with alarming symptoms, including low blood pressure, a low heart rate, extreme exhaustion, and constricted blood vessels. Doctors at CaroMont Regional Medical Center were stumped, and the girl was transferred to Levine Children’s Hospital. There, a urine test revealed she had a large amount of THZ, the same drug that killed her mother, in her system. The tests also found traces of an antidepressant found in Joshua Hunsucker’s car. Joshua Hunsucker has now been arrested on eight new felony charges: four counts each of witness intimidation and obstruction of justice. Twelve-year-old Maria lives with her father, Andres Gomez, and cousin, Ricky, in Gainesville, Georgia. Maria's mother is not involved in her life. On the morning of her disappearance, Andres leaves the house at 10 AM, assuming Maria is still asleep. He says goodbye to his nephew, Ricky, and heads out. When Gomez returns home that evening, Maria doesn’t greet him at the door. Concerned, he knocks on her bedroom door, only to find that his 12-year-old daughter is missing. The family frantically contacts neighbors and friends in search of her. Maria is reported missing. Nearly two months later, the case takes a turn. Maria contacts her father via Facebook Messenger. Investigators trace the IP address and manage to locate the device. Maria is found with 31-year-old Antonio Augustin, a Guatemalan native living in northeastern Ohio.
