NFL Trade Deadline passes: How to deal with selfish players (11/5)

Today’s word of the day is ‘selfish’ as in being all about one’s self as in Golden Tate as in the New York Giants are having a problem with Golden Tate. A few weeks back he got into a postgame fight with Jalen Ramsey and NOW first year head coach Joe Judge sent him home for being selfish. How do you handle a player like Tate (0:06)? So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me if I were the GM of the Houston Texans would I trade JJ Watt. Watt has one year left on his deal and the Texans are a disaster. Hm, that’s a good question (14:20). Review - On The Rocks (24:05). More NFL drama post trade deadline… this time it’s with the Atlanta Falcons and Takk McKinley. He wanted out of Atlanta and it didn’t happen. He then tweeted about it and head coach Raheem Morris was pissed (28:30). Are we any closer to finding out who our next President is going to be now that it’s two days after Election Day? #waittosee--------------------------'Nothing Personal with David Samson' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Bullhorn and wherever else you listen to podcasts.  Follow David on Twitter: @DavidPSamson To watch David on CBS Sports HQ visit https://www.cbssports.com/live/To hear more from the CBS Sports Podcast Network, visit https://www.cbssports.com/podcasts/https://www.youtube.com/nothingpersonalwithdavidsamson Learn more about your ad choices. Election 2020 Update: What issues do sports owners care about? (11/4)

Today’s word of the day is ‘insomnia’ as in counting sheep as in using Calm as in watching movies or reading as in not being able to get your brain to slow down to go to sleep. Who else has it? Who else was glued to the TV last night watching election updates? Going from channel to channel to channel trying to find something new. Trying to find a new update on what’s happening with our Presidential election. So where are we today (0:06)? So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me about owners in sports and what issues in voting they actually care about (25:36). Review - Letters To You (39:35). Let’s end today talking about the NBA. There is a ton of drama about the when the season will start. It’s all about the money. Follow the money (43:15)! Election Day 2020; MLB Awards; Bill Belichick admits Patriots aren’t good (11/3)

Today’s word of the day is ‘democracy’ as in the election is today as in go out and vote as in you have no excuse to not vote. Let’s talk about the election. Let’s talk about the process of voting. Let’s talk about how we should all be better as a people (0:06). Review - Dave (23:35). MLB award finalists were announced last night. How bizarre would it be if Rick Renteria won AL Manager of the Year after being fired by the White Sox? Who wins MVP in each league? Freeman? Machado? Betts? What about NL Cy Young? Bauer? DeGrom? Darvish? A whole lot of wait to sees (28:15). So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me what my thoughts were on Bill Belichick’s comments about his current team (40:35). GO OUT AND VOTE! MLB offseason here in a hurry; NFL covid protocols are a problem for league (11/2)

Today’s word of the day is ‘opt-in’ as opposed to opt-out, or what players did at the start of the season. This opt-in is about players choosing to pick up the option on their deals for next season or longer. Giancarlo Stanton has opted in to his long term deal with the Yankees. J.D. Martinez has decided to opt-in to his deal with the Boston Red Sox. What exactly does this mean for the player and the team (0:06)? So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me what a qualifying offer is. Let’s go into some detail about what these offers are, what they mean, and how they work. Trevor Bauer, Kevin Gausman, DJ LeMahieu, JT Realmuto, George Springer, Marcus Stroman - those are the candidates this year (11:06). Review - 537 Votes and Mt. Rushmore of Sean Connery films (24:30). The NFL has some issues. Some really big issues. What is going on with the NFL testing protocols? How could a Baltimore Ravens player and a Green Bay Packers player possibly play in a game and then test positive after the game but the test was taken before the game? Someone please explain this (30:45). It has happened. New York Mets fans are partying through Queens. Steve Cohen was approved as the new owner of the team. Everything Steve Cohen has done since the announcement has been perfect… (39:30) #waittosee--------------------------'Nothing Personal with David Samson' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Bullhorn and wherever else you listen to podcasts. World Series Fallout: MLB investigating Justin Turner incident (10/29)

Today's word of the day is 'emphatic' as in the investigation that MLB is now conducting into Just Turner's postgame incident. Turner tested positive for coronavirus, was taken out of the game, told to isolate, then said EFF IT! and returned to the field to celebrate with the team. MLB is not happy, but what will they do (0:06)? Review - Ted Lasso (19:45). Daryl Morey already has a new job. The Philadelphia 76ers have hired Morey to be the new president of basketball operations. Excuse me? The same team that hired Doc Rivers to be its head coach? How is this going to work out? What happened to China? NBA revenue was down 10 percent. Let's discuss what this means for the league. It could impact salary in a major way (24:15). So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me about the $8.3B debt that Rob Manfred said teams are dealing with. Let's break down this business (38:15). #waittosee---------------------------'Nothing Personal with David Samson' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Bullhorn and wherever else you listen to podcasts. Los Angeles Dodgers win the World Series: Seager wins MVP, Kershaw gets a ring, Turner gets covid (10/28)

Today's word of the day is 'Queen' as in We Are The Champions as in the Los Angeles Dodgers have won the World Series. First World Series title since 1988. How did they do it? Drama and drama and drama (0:06). Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash is under immense fire after pulling starter Blake Snell from a 2-hit shutout. The world erupted. Corey Seager wowed at the plate and won MVP. Mookie Betts was a hero once again with a momentum swinging double and a home run to boot (8:22). The MLB secret agent move of the century: Justin Turner pulled from the game after a positive test was revealed midgame. After the game Justin Turner completely ignored MLB coronavirus protocol and returned to the field to celebrate with his teammates. What an absolute nightmare for MLB. The season is now over. One of the strangest, most bizarre, insane seasons ever (28:10)! #waittosee---------------------------'Nothing Personal with David Samson' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Bullhorn and wherever else you listen to podcasts. World Series Game 6 Preview: Will Dodgers regret not pitching Buehler? (10/27)

Today's word of the day is 'regret' as looking back on a decision you made as in will the Dodgers regret not starting Walker Buehler tonight? It's Game 6 of the World Series and Dave Roberts has decided to go with Tony Gonsolin. The Tampa Bay Rays are going with Blake Snell. Is this a mistake? Buehler is the Dodgers ace and holding him off for a possible Game 7 seems like the wrong choice. The Rays have been abysmal at the plate capped off with Mike Zunino hitting .000 in the World Series. So why not pitch the ace (0:06)? Review: The Trial of the Chicago 7 (17:40). So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked if I had a goodbye call with the Marlins like the Wilpon's did with the New York Mets (26:00). Time for a business discussion re:MLB. Teams are laying off dozens of people on both sides of the business. Let’s go inside the decision making process and how a team owner and president navigate the pandemic waters. I have great experience in this area (38:10). #waittosee---------------------------'Nothing Personal with David Samson' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Bullhorn and wherever else you listen to podcasts. World Series recap: Dodgers one game away from rings; Kershaw silences the haters again

Today's word of the day is 'narrative' as in changing the storyline as in Clayton Kershaw comes out for a second time in the World Series and shuts down the Tampa Bay Rays. Now the Los Angeles Dodgers are one game away from winning the whole thing. So let's talk about Clayton Kershaw and how his critics can never say another bad thing about him in the postseason again (0:06). Let's also talk about what happened in Game 4. The Dodgers could have wrapped up the World Series on Saturday night, but they blew it on one of the biggest Bad News Bears plays of all time. So what are these teams doing on the off day on Monday? I've been there so listen to me (7:06). NFL Week 7 has come and gone. Dallas Cowboys are in a lot of trouble right now. Andy Dalton is in at QB for the team and he gets crushed and leaves the game. 7th round draft pick Ben DiNucci had to come in and play... bad news for Mike McCarthy and Jerry Jones again (21:45). Antonio Brown has signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Reports were flying around that this was all a Tom Brady move. Well, Bruce Arians said Brady had nothing to do with this... it was all Arians and GM Jason Licht (22:30). Review - Borat Subsequent Movie film: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (28:00). What in the world is happening with the NBA? Reports were that the NBA wasn't going to start until January 2021 then there were reports that there could maybe possibly be a bubble, and NOW there are reports that the NBA is looking to start right around Christmas Day 2020 and it would be 72 games long with no All Star Game. Why exactly would they want to do that? TV rights fees (31:15). Northwestern and its president have a problem. Let’s discuss and say whether Morty Shapiro will step down... will he (39:00)? #waittosee Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
