In this message, Van talks about fear and how fear hinders us from hearing God clearly.  He says that the core element of fear is the fear that God will direct us to do something that is not for our welfare or flows against our core desires.  The solution is two-fold:  the first is absolute confidence in the goodness of God, then, second,  delighting yourself in God alone which aligns your heart's desires with HIs. God’s Guidance by Van Cochrane

The message “Foundations Part 2” by Van Cochrane, focuses on the need for more than simply an intellectual approach to grasp spiritual truth. It takes supernatural revelation as well. In light of that, I share why I believe the Bible is the Word of God. Then I talk about the importance of keeping a good conscience in our growing relationship with Christ, so that we will never stumble.

The message Foundations, by Van Cochrane, starts with an emphasis on relationship with Jesus Christ as the foundation for our faith. The intellectual side flows out of and fits into relationship.  With this as a background, I addressed the crisis many are in today of deconstructing their faith (questioning and rethinking their beliefs).  I talked about how to relate to a friend in this process and gave some gentle challenges to the person who is deconstructing their faith.
