iFanboy - Comic Books
iFanboy
The iFanboy.com Comic Book Podcast is a weekly talk show all about the best new current comic book releases. Lifelong friends, Conor Kilpatrick and Josh Flanagan talk about what they loved and (sometimes) hated in the current weekly books, from publishers like Marvel, DC, Image Comics, Dark Horse Comics, BOOM! Studios, IDW, Aftershock, Valiant, and more. The aim is to have a fun time, some laughs, but to also really understand what makes comic books work and what doesn’t, and trying to understand the craft of this great, often under appreciated art form. Sometimes they agree, and sometimes… they don’t. With decades of experience talking about comics, interacting with comic book professionals, this is all about the love of an art form. If the names Brian Michael Bendis, Amanda Conner, Geoff Johns, Gene Luen Yang, Donny Cates, Jason Aaron, Kelly Thompson, David Marquez, Kelly Sue de Connick, Kieron Gillen, Charles Soule, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Scott Snyder, Tom King, Mitch Gerads, Esad Ribic, Rick Remender, Nick Spencer, John Ridley, Skottie Young, Chip Zdarsky, Jöelle Jones, David F. Walker, Grant Morrison, and Darwyn Cooke get you excited, then this is the place for you. This podcast is so good, you don’t even need to read comic books or graphic novels to enjoy it, but it’s a lot better if you do.

Talksplode #46 - Making Comics with Blair Butler and Charles Soule
October 6, 2011 - This is a very cool episode of Talksplode. We’ve got Blair Butler of G4′s Attack of the Show and writer of the upcoming Image series, Heart, and Charles Soule, writer of 27, also from Image Comics, but we’re not just going to be plugging books. Along with Josh Flanagan, also a comic book writer looking to get published, the discussion is all about making comics, breaking in, getting started, finding artists, and the real things involved in the process. From marketing to design to scripting to page layout, we cover a lot of ground in this lengthy and diverse discussion about what’s it’s like to make professional, independent comics today.
Part of the discussion was based on this piece, Making Comics: Why I’ve Failed So Far.
Make sure to follow Blair and Charles on Twitter for updates on their comic book adventures. You can also go to Blair’s website and Charles’ blog. To read some of Josh’s comic work, you can find that here.
Look for Heart from Blair Butler and Kevin Mellon in November, and read 27: The Second Set, in shops now, both from Image.
You can also read the first issue of Dixon’s Notch, written by Josh Flanagan on Graphicly. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Talksplode #45 with J.H. Williams III, W. Haden Blackman, and Mitch Gerads
September 29, 2011 - We’ve got a double Talksplode for you today with 2 bite sized conversations, perfect for your comics podcasting pleasure.
First up, Paul Montgomery was granted some time with the creators of Batwoman #1, J.H. Williams III, and W. Haden Blackman. They talk about finally getting this series to the shelves, and what’s in store for Kathy Kane in her new life. The collaborators also touch on their creative process, as Williams is not only artist, but co-writer. Finally, we clear up some questions about Renee Montoya and her status, as well as Agent Chace.
Next, Josh Flanagan speaks to Mitch Gerads, an up and coming artist, known for his bombastic colors on Stan Lee’s Starborn. A relative newcomer, Mitch will certainly garner some name recognition when his creator owned series The Activity, written by Nathan Edmondson, debuts in December from Image Comics. Additionally we talk his work on Doctor Whofor IDW, and about what the online community, Twitter, and Mitch’s relationship with ComicTwart have done for him professionally. If you don’t know the name, you will, so learn how to pronounce it. Take a look at some of Mitch’s art below. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Talksplode #44 with Scott Snyder of Batman, Swamp Thing, American Vampire, and Severed
September 22, 2011 - Scott Snyder is a writer on the rise, but at this point, it’s hard to see how much higher his star can rise. With the release of Batman #1 and Swamp Thing #1 in the new DC Comics lineup, Snyder has seen critical and commercial success, and even managed to make the hardcore fans happy. Teaming with spectacular artists over and over again, like Greg Capullo on Batman, Yannick Paquette on Swamp Thing, Scott’s got a lot to be proud of. We talk in depth about what’s going on with Bruce Wayne and Alec Holland, as well as what’s to come with American Vampire and where Severed came from. As always, Scott is candid and in depth on every question, from his early interactions with Greg Capullo to considerations of fan reactions to the DC changes. Plus, how old is Jim Gordon anyway? Talksplode #43 with Rick Remender of Strange Girl, Uncanny X-Force and Venom
August 25, 2011 - One of our long time favorite series over the past 10 years has been Strange Girl from Image Comics, written by Rick Remender with art by Eric Nguyen, Jerome Opena and many more. This September, Strange Girl is scheduled to get the Omnibus treatment, which is a great opportunity for those of you who missed the series the first time around in issues, or the second time around in trades.
