God's Love: Girls Breakout
SWO20 Girls Breakout | Amy Rasmussen | Wednesday Night1 Corinthians 13God's love is like no other love. His love extends to us constantly. It's pure, holy, selfless, and patient. But, we must receive it.God's love is patient – It's available to us. It's willing to wait. He will wait for years for us to love Him back.God's love is kind – It builds others up and doesn't put others to shame.God's love is content – In God's presence, there is fullness of joy.God's love is humbleGod's love is respectful – Jesus views us as priceless and worthy. We should view and treat others the same way.God's love is not selfish – It's willing to suffer to give us what we need. God's love is forgiving – He remembers that we're only human. He remembers that we are just dust.God's love is holy – Hate what God hates. Love what God loves. You will become like whatever you're giving your attention to.God's love bears all things – He carries our burdens. He doesn't give up. He is steadfast. He is able to love you in a way that defies explanation.Accept His love and you will be transformed from a selfish, insecure, grudge-holding sinner to an unselfish, humble, confident, faithful forgiving friend of sinners.References:1 Corinthians 13Learn more about our student and adult conferences athttps://www.swoutfitters.com/P.S. Conflict & Confrontation in Student Ministry
Spencer Davis | SWO Summer Camp | Leader BreakoutWhere there are people, there will be conflict. How do we handle it well?Too often, believers lack the Biblical wisdom and practical skill needed to confront or handle conflict well. As a result, opportunities for pastoral care or personal connection become contentious, confusing and hurtful. This breakout for student pastors explores Biblical principles needed to navigate confrontation and conflict, both pastorally and personally, and maximize the opportunities for relational grace that conflict provides. At its root, conflict stems from improper wanting. Replace inward passions for Godward passions. Quick Reminders:Learn to see conflict coming in yourself.Look for signs that the other person is angry.Learn your tendencies and fight them.Reboot and make things safe again.Don't focus on winning, focus on finding a solution.Before/When you confront someone:Ask if it’s true.Ask them to tell you about it.How can we move forward.Let me tell you what I think/ May I tell you what I think? What have you heard me say?How do you feel?References:James 4Proverbs 18Learn more about our student and adult conferences athttps://www.swoutfitters.com/P.S. Redefining Ministry Success in Student Ministry
SWO20 Leader Breakout | Rob Conti | Thursday MorningRob Conti examined the common reasons so many student pastors feel unsuccessful in ministry and how we should align our definition of ministry success with a biblical standard. There is a danger of adopting worldly views on yourself when it comes to your ministry. We tend to view success through the approval of man.How does Scripture define success? Not numbers. Not approval of man. We're held accountable by God. Live in faithfulness towards the Lord. Be faithful to the Word of God and to His character."For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe." (1 Timothy 4:10)Six key reminders:Be obedient to God's word.Serve God and others.Love God.Love His people.Believe His word.Spend time in prayer. Preparing Your Students for Difficult Questions
Zach Mabry | SWO20 Leader Breakout | Friday MorningIf we believe the Bible then we must believe all of the Bible. We do not have the option of dismissing any part of it because of some kind of current, cultural pressure. And if we are going to be faithfully discipling our students in preparation for when they leave our ministry and embark on adulthood in the “real world” then we need to be preparing them for “real world” situations. In this session, Zach Mabry taught through some often misunderstood teachings of the Bible and gave clarity to help aid our students to be equipped at the onslaught they will most assuredly face in a culture hostile to God.Download the SlidesLearn more about our student and adult conferences athttps://www.swoutfitters.com/P.S. Learning Love Through the Lord's Prayer
Respond Women's Retreat at Home with Amy Rasmussen We as Christians are to receive Christ's love and be vessels of His love. Through the Lord's prayer, we learn more about the selfless love of God so we then are able to love others around us. His love forgives, protects, and delivers us. We need to extend this kind of love to those around us and cannot keep it to ourselves. Pray this prayer and live it out through your actions. Hope in Every Circumstance
Respond Women's Retreat at Home with Sarah ContiWhen circumstances in life leave our souls shaken and in turmoil, we can look to the psalmist's example of raw emotions before the Lord. In the unpredictability of life, we need to remind ourselves of our unchanging Savior. He is steadfast, and even when it feels like our grip on Him is slipping, His grip on us is not. Resting at the Feet of Jesus
Respond Women's Retreat at Home with Bethany ClarkToo often we want God to fix all of our problems without walking through them. Even as believers we don't get to escape trials or troubles in this life. We will have trials but Christ has overcome the world. Don't slip into the mindset where we want God to only fix the outward symptoms. Instead, pause and pray through what He may want to remove from you. Learn how to rest at the feet of Jesus in the midst of tribulation. Come to the Lord
Respond Women's Retreat at Home with Little HollowayIt's easy to get so caught up in the busyness of life that we stop making the Lord a priority. We wake up, grab our phones and are instantly wrapped up in our to do lists for the day. Instead, we should fight the things that distract us. Wake up ready to spend time with Christ so you set the cadence for your day. Make time in your day to come to the Lord, not in a hurry, and ask Him to give you patience, wisdom, and peace.
