After their service in the face of the Covid-19 crisis, Rae offers an analogy to military service. In order to prevent long-term supply challenges, leaders may need to make supply problem worse before it can get better. That means literally giving doctors and nurses time to step back, access tools to heal and treat their trauma, and ultimately return to the workforce.
