Jessica Phoenix Sylvia is an Empowerment Avenue social justice writer, abolition theorist, and community organizer. She is one of the contributors to the recently published book “The Press In Prison,” (Haymarket Books & Scalawag Media). She is currently working with the Study and Struggle program, and she is the author of a recent piece in PEN America called “Prison Book Bans, Protect Mass Incarceration.”
