Seattle's minimum wage compromise is ending. Restaurants are worried

Ten years ago, when Seattle passed its first-in-the-nation $15 minimum wage, a lot of small businesses were concerned. So the law carved out an exception that let some small employers count tips and other reimbursement.  That compromise will expire in January, and some restaurant owners say it could cause big problems. We’ll hear why from restaurant owners Yenvy Pham, Amy Fair Gunnar and Eric Banh, plus analysis of how we got here from Seattle Times reporter David Kroman.  We can only make Seattle Now because listeners support us. Casual Friday with Sandeep Kaushik and Erica Barnett

This week… We’re trying to make sense of national politics, and how Washington state and Seattle fit in. Interim Seattle Police Chief Sue Rahr made a big move and fired the officer that made jokes about the death of a young woman. And King County tucked a sweet, cool “I Voted” sticker into the mail in ballots this time around. Political strategist Sandeep Kaushik and Publicola Editor and Publisher Erica Barnett are here to break down the week. Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated The Bite of Seattle would not accept cash. The Bite of Seattle will accept cash, card and contactless payment.
