Character Limits, Shaun’s Blind Dilemma & Google Gemini Meets Talkback

Today on the show Steven and Shaun discuss the character limit explosion on social media these days, how Shaun felt after being called blind by a passer by, and we meet Google’s Product Manager for Android, Lisie Lillianfeld. The guys open the show with their usual banter picking up on Shaun’s recent experience with a passer-by who tried to help him by yelling ‘Blind Guy” to a motorist who was reversing out of his drive. Why did this bother Shaun so much? And since we’re on irritations, Steven shares his most recent after finding people on social media network Mastodon writing posts up to 10,000 characters long. Is it too much, or is this the path of new social media? And later in the show the guys are joined by special guest Lisie Lilianfeld, Google’s Product Manager for Android, to discuss the recent implementation of Google’s AI called Gemini into the Android screenreader called Talkback, making it easier to get high quality image descriptions from photos on social media and online.Get in touch with Double Tap by emailing us feedback@doubletaponair.com or by call 1-877-803-4567 and leave us a voicemail. The Great Audio Description Rant & Ending The Stigma Of Menstrual Health

Today on the show Steven and Shaun discuss more of your emails and comments, with another epic rant from Steven coming up, and they discuss a new menstrual tracking device for women. Listener emails are the focus for the first half of the episode, with topics including the challenges of international pricing for tech products, the importance of Safari extensions for smoother browsing experiences, and the accessibility issues faced by Sky's streaming services and the ongoing need for improvements in audio description and accessibility in broadcasting. The second half of the episode focuses in on a new product from startup Flowsense. Muna Dawd is the founder of the company and joins Steven to talk about her new device that aims to help end the stigma of menstrual health for women, and empower blind women to get up to the minute information about their monthly cycle, all tracked via an accessible app. Get in touch with Double Tap by emailing us feedback@doubletaponair.com or by call 1-877-803-4567 and leave us a voicemail.
