Segment 1 Why can’t we let go of coffee for a few hours on Sunday morning? Why do we need to be sipping coffee during the service? In my opinion, coffee in the sanctuary, is in some ways irreverent to God. -Marion I am an 18-year-old college student who’s aspiring to go into the mission field. I understand that to be a missionary, I need to be an elder-qualified man. However, throughout my entire life, even after I was saved, I’ve struggled with lust and pornography. I’ve grown in self-control and faith, but still battle with it. Does this make me unqualified for eldership/missions? If not, how can I know I am qualified? -Ashton Segment 2 I work a retail job, where the company supports the LGBTQ, but the company has not required us to participate or support in any way. But I also struggle with whether working there I might be sinning. -John Segment 3 A lady I work with was upset over her sick dog. Someone wrote “Jesus loves you” on a post-it note and put it on her desk. She went to human resources complaining. I being the resident Christian got blamed, called into the office and told that I may not discuss religion or politics at work. The guy that actually wrote the note was given a day off without pay. Can they do this? Can they legally put a gag order on me? -Jim My two sisters are converting to the episcopal church, help! How should I approach the subject with them? -Anonymous Segment 4 How long should we continue praying for salvation for the most stubbornly hardhearted false preachers who are simply showing no sign of repentance, despite being prayed about for decades? Though he claims to be a believer he doubts its sufficiency because it was written by men. I have shared with him the passages like 1 Tim. 3:16 and others, but he basically wants a resource outside of the Bible to claim that the Bible is true. -Brandon Segment 3 Is it a sin to open a coffee shop inside of a church? -Anonymous I’m at a loss with my 19-year-old son! He’s always been very structured, with the motto “I date for marriage, not for fun!” But now in college, he’s thrown that out the window, lost his virginity, and is obsessed with his girlfriend. We’ve talked to him, but everything goes in one ear and out the other. I kinda just want to punch him in the forehead! Any suggestions? -Aliah Segment 4 I’m struggling with a church decision to grant our senior pastor a summer sabbatical. The plans involve mostly traveling out of the USA and around the USA, with some time for hobbies and family. Please note that this pastor makes significantly over $100K a year and has a generous vacation plan in a church of only 250 people. I was taught that a sabbatical is a rest from regular work, used to study and grow, and that one should come back with a new perspective or a book they’ve written. I’m not okay with vacationing being the dominant part of the time off.
