A serial rapist turned serial murderer, he held California in a grip of fear for way too long. Larry Crompton tells us of the attacks that began in Northern CA in 1976 that continued on until 1986 that we know of. Prior to Sacramento attacks there was a serial prowler called the Visalia Ransacker with over 125 break in prowlings under his belt. Detective Crompton had a feeling all of the attacks were connected and tried to tell jurisdictions across the state. Retired from Contra Costa County Department Larry has never quit searching for this serial predator. Now at long last Joseph James DeAngelo is the face of the man behind the mask. Presumed innocent until proven guilty the case appears to have been solved by a 100% DNA match. His name had become the Golden State Killer. Now what we look for are answers. Hopefully there are not more victims of this serial predator. This book originally released on paperback in 2010 was the first book out on a case that no one was talking about. THE GRIM SLEEPER-Victoria Redstall
During the mid-1980s, a brutal killing spree began in Los Angeles as several women were murdered, having been sexually assaulted and shot in the chest with the same .25 calibre gun. The man responsible was Lonnie David Franklin Jr. However, his identity wouldn't be revealed for more than 20 years, by which time he had become one of America's most prolific serial killers. At the time, Los Angeles was a city struggling under the weight of racial inequalities and a crack epidemic that was sweeping through its most deprived areas. The victims were black women, and often addicts and sex workers. Many in the communities of South Central felt that these factors all caused a lack of interest on the part of the LAPD in investigating the murders, allowing Franklin to carry on his killing spree undetected. EXPOSED:THE ZODIAC REVEALED-Mark Hewitt
One question remains unanswered: Who is the Zodiac? There have been many hypotheses about the killer’s identity, some sober and evidence-based, some wildly speculative, all touching upon any one or more of the 2,500 suspects in the Zodiac serial killer case. But until now, the truth has not been known. In HUNTED, Dr. Mark Hewitt presented the facts of the case: the attacks, the letters, the phone calls, and the police response. In PROFILED, he demonstrated the psychology of serial killers and gave an evidence-based criminal profile of the Zodiac himself. Yet even these present an incomplete picture of the case. In EXPOSED, Dr. Hewitt fills in the gaps in the timeline, explains how and why the Zodiac originated and where he disappeared to, and reveals the identity of one of the most enigmatic and feared serial killers in American history. On September 27, 2018, EXPOSED: The Zodiac Revealed, the final instalment of the Zodiac Serial Killer series, brings to light the truth about the Zodiac. In it, Hewitt presents definitive evidence of the killer’s identity, and names him directly. This incontrovertible work of investigation will confirm the suspicions of many Zodiac investigators and change the public’s understanding of the case forever. SAVING ANNIE-Steve Jackson
In March 2009, pretty, vivacious Rhonda Casto plunged to her death from a 300-foot cliff in the Oregon woods. The only witness, Stephen Nichols, the father of her nine-month-old baby, Annie, told police investigators she slipped and fell.Yet, Nichols’ story didn’t quite mesh with the facts. And some of his other actions raised suspicions as well, including just days after her death trying to collect on a million-dollar life insurance policy he’d taken out on his unemployed, 23-year-old girlfriend four months earlier. What had begun with a 911 call to report an accident, quickly turned into a homicide investigation. However, in part due to lackluster police work, the case grew cold. Then in 2011, Dardie Robinson, a tenacious investigator with a Portland law firm began digging into the circumstances surrounding Rhonda's death. The law firm represented Rhonda’s mother, who believed that Nichols, 34 at the time, had murdered her daughter. She wanted to prevent him from gaining custody of Annie and the life insurance money. What Robinson discovered, including an attempt by Nichols to throw his first wife off a high-rise balcony in China, as well as sexual abuse allegations with Rhonda's underaged sister, convinced her that Rhonda’s death was no accident. So began her six-year battle to ‘save Annie’ from her own father and find justice for Rhonda. In the meantime, a parallel investigation into the case by co-authors Steve Jackson, an award-winning journalist and New York Times bestselling author, and private investigator Tom McCallum, posed the same questions. What really happened to Rhonda Casto on that cold, rainy afternoon on the Eagle Creek trail? And what would become of her child.
