On today's show John is joined by Ted Visner. Ted was released from a Michigan state prison on May 7, 2020 after having served 2 years. His sentence was the result of a malicious prosecution.  Ted was not permitted to meaningfully participate in his defense. The police, by the direction of the prosecutor – Bernard Coppolino, stole exculpatory evidence from his home to keep this critical defense evidence, (critical evidence being Mr. Visner's Michigan Medical Marihuana Program cards/licensing), from being presented to the jury. MPD150 is an effort by local organizers, researchers, artists and activists, in which they've published an investigation into the conduct of the Minneapolis Police Department throughout its 150-year history and call for abolishing the Minneapolis police. MPD150's goal is to shift the discussion of police violence in Minneapolis from one of procedural reforms to one of meaningful structural change. They want to dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department and transfer the social service functions to community-based agencies and organizations. They want to replace emergency intervention functions with models not based on military methods and to redirect resources to support community resilience and people-directed development.
