329. The Roar of an Economic Hitman

In this week’s episode of the flagship Lions of Liberty podcast, Marc is joined by the fascinating John Perkins, author of “Confessions of an Economic Hitman” and the updated “New Confessions of an Economic Hitman.” John describes how he was recruited by the NSA and targetted as a potential EHM, or “Economic Hitman”, where his job was to travel the world, wooing world leaders with fancy economic projections and promises of prosperity in order to convince them to accept crippling loans and debt they could never repay.  Libertarians often concern themselves with foreign intervention, most often focusing on military conflict. But in this show, John Perkins provides a deeper look at an even more insidious level of conflict, the chaos created by EHM’s around the world. John goes on to detail just how he had a spiritual awakening regarding the insidious nature of his profession, and wha [...] Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

FF 103 - Libertarian Principles Helped a Drug Dealer Turn his Life Around

On today’s episode of Felony Friday, host John Odermatt is joined by Colin Kreiger. Colin is a member of the Lions of Liberty Pride (you can join here), but that’s not the reason why he’s on the show. The reason Colin was asked to share his story on Felony Friday is because he serves as a remarkable example for others that it’s never too late to turn your life around. In fact, Colin credits the ideas of liberty for being a main catalyst in providing the blueprint and the motivation to turn his life around.  Colin has made some mistakes in his life and paid dearly for them. He was kicked out of his University’s criminology program for getting caught with less than a gram of weed. Later, he was kicked out of college altogether for fighting and resisting arrest. Over the course of the next few years [...] Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

ELL 51: FISA Section 702 Will Never Die, and Congress Doesn’t Keep Harassment Records

On this week’s Electric Libertyland… Host Brian McWilliams talks Roy Moore’s Alabama defeat, the new Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and the Congressional Office of Compliance’s apparent lack of any records about sexual harassment settlements. Brian then discusses Section 702 of FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act), which allows the NSA & FBI to spy on Americans’ electronic communications. Section 702 was scheduled to expire/sunset on Dec 31st, 2017. However, the likelihood of that happening is slim, and Brian explains why and how it will likely live on. On the bright side, however, the Pentagon is finally getting audited! Show notes at Lions of Liberty @BrianMcWilliams[...] Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
